Roland Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Well we are deafened by the silence eh! It is certainly, for sure, a good sign that England are doing well... especially when not even a snipe lol from the anti hopefuls lol.Having said that, France have made 6 - 7 changes and will certainly be up for this game ... Something to prove! It will be another physical game I guess. Not so brutal as the Irish V England I hope, but one where no quarter will be asked or given. France do have some very good players,no doubt about that! Yes 2 -3 match winners to boot. So I would say it is a nigh ceratinty that Englang will give away a few penalties ... even a try! But it has to be another great gelling chance for England's steady and sturdy rise and learning team and young team. Augers well for 18 months time and the W/C hopefully. I am surprise, as I said before, how few have reach 20 caps for England, and more so the number not reaching double figures. Com :002: :002: :emoticon-0140-rofl: e on England

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 well done England on another good victory
Tony C Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 The acid test was always going to be when they found themselves behind, for me the question still remains as feel the use of the French replacements was a tactical blunder. Nevertheless England showed character which can only bode well for the future of this young team.
Fly_caster Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Congrats to England on their win. Ably helped by the most inept and one-sided refereeing performance ever seen on a 6 nations pitch Helped also by the even more inept Phillipe Saint Andre - where did he get those substitutions from ? Only Wales can now stop the Chariot.......If Wales can get a homer of a ref maybe they will have a chance  Steve
Guest Owen Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Well done England.I am looking forward to beating them and taking the Championship later this year.
Roland Posted February 24, 2013 Author Report Posted February 24, 2013 Well I think that the experience brought back in,and the determination of the French meant that England played below what most expect. They wasn't allowed to be at their best. But again one can only play as good, or look as good for that matter, as the opposition allows. And they hit all the vunerable parts ... But it is surely a mark of a good, or great side that can still come back and grind out a result. I further believe that it was another very useful and good lesson and learning curve for such a young and inexperiencd side. So come on, give credit where credit is due ... Well done England. As for Refs, well the Welsh still have the worst again this season ... who's name doesn't deserve to be mentioned.
Guest Owen Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 RolandI think you may be guilty of watching rugby with one eye closed. England are a good side without doubt but you have to admit that they like watching paint dry. I know that the Welsh team have played in a style that lets them grind out wins. I hope they change their way of playing because we are going to be like the English team if this goes on. I reckon it is time we abandoned the blitz defence and played in the traditional Welsh way. If this type of play goes on Rugby will become like Soccer. Dogged by defences and thoroughly slow and boring to watch. When I watched the Irish team play in a way that makes them scared to suport their runners because they are too afraid to risk the oposition scoring I thought that they to have lost their way as well. The sooner that low risk rugby goes the better for us spectators.
Roland Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 Good post Owen granted. However, possibly like soccer and grinding out wins, a win is a win. South Africa, and New Zealand are past masters ... Aussies more open granted. But to win the W/C they have to be BEAT, and I feel that is this has to be, and England are very good on the defensive mould, then so be it. Many play good games that are enjoyable games but lose ... and are forgotten when the 'Winners' pick up the trophies and titles. Mind I may be bias in that I do enjoy the new facet England are bringing into their game. Like Ireland that did England last time on their home ground. they simply picked the lands up and didn't allow they to pass the ball . The could only hold it or drop it ... and it worked a treat. Think the days of Merv the swerve and other greats will always be match winners, but the chances are far, far more hard to achieve.
Tony C Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 The professionalism of teams now have a huge impact on the way the game is played. The slowing down of quick ball now dictates the tempo & tactics being deployed. I feel the only way to get the game back on track is to punish misdemeanors in and around rucks more severely, hopefully this would help the free & flowing game return.
dwh Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 the game is now a forwards game its not very often you see free running rugby these days come to think of it rolling mauls by the forwards arn't seen that often flair players are few and far b'twn backs used to be greyhounds since lomu 17st built like a bricksh;t house and quick as our wingersours were the underwoods etc quick but lomu ran through them england are a young side and its early days for them would like a comparison of stats against woodwards w/c winning side in his 1st year i'll bet lancasters teams win/game ratio is on a par if not better it took woodward years and 3 shocking tours a battering bythe aussies before he got it rightpatience if this team lives upto its potenial it will win another qorld cup as for the french arrogant badly led and lazy and until they change there set up they'll never win another grand slam never mind a world cup JMO
