Chris Little Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 As a member of the Solway Fed this is news to me
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 I really hope I haven't upset fanciers in the Solway by asking for joint convoying to Stafford. For the last 10 ++ years Lanarkshire fanciers have had to send their pigeons as trainers with different feds to get a pre race for the young bird national, last year I counted 6 differnt feds that were used, convoying along with the Solway will allow lanarkshire members to send together, this on a line of flight to which the Lanarkshire young birds this year have flown successfully on, at the same time a competitive race with pooling options. Let's hope for kind weather and a successful race.ATB PsWould like to Walter and his fellow officials at assisting at this late notice.
sj irving jnr Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Thank you for your comment Scott, sometimes decisions are requested of me which do not permit of a meeting on account of the time scale and the rapidly changing circumstances and I always think its better to do something than do nothing.I always take advice on these matters and my biggest mistake would appear to publicising it on a pigeon website,A mistake I will not make again it has brought me nothing but aggravation. As a member of the Solway Fed this is news to me no problem walter,we all make mistakes keep up the good work atbscott
frank-123 Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Hopefully the guys in the solway will understand the guys just want to race pigeons and they would be very grateful if they could get another race into there birds before the youngbird national. Sadly Lanarkshire officials only cater for a few member's.

Chris Little Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 I don't have a problem whatsoever with joint convoying with Lanarkshire I'm sure the Solway Fed went with Lanarkshire for a couple of races about 10 years ago, these were good races. Certainly something to work on for the future However, it would have been more welcomed had the news not been broken first on the internet.....

Chris this is our last race in Lanarkshire this weekend so we needed to know so we could highlight it to the members there was another race. so time was in short supply. Even today talking to Gareth nothing was 100% confirmed.

Walter swanston Posted August 30, 2012 Author Report Posted August 30, 2012 Tiger, you have put your finger on what is the real issue here. For about 5 years now I have tried to spread the word that the future of pigeon racing is in co-operation between federations. What is the point in transporters going down the road half empty?

Said something simlar on an other thread, Unfortunatly here in Ayrshire we cant even agree to go in one direction, we have Ayrshire fed and Ayrshire North road, about a 70/30 split in numbers, we also in Ayshire fed cannot agree in what direction we want to go for a full season, west route for the old birds then after a meeting east for the yb, so much as I would like to compete it looks like it would be down to the individual.
yeboah Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 If these races were arranged anyone wishing to send birds should be more than welcome.
