andy Burgess Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 can experienced fanciers tell me how many times they would expect birds to face an East wind ? first 2 races have been cold ones , and this weekend forecast (so far ) is for much of the same .

yeboah Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 Whilst the wind is in the east and weekend temp will struggle at 8 degrees my birds wont be in any race basket if that means not racing so be it,strongly feel distance in good weather is no problem to a fit and healthy bird, find it astonishing that our organisations never put the pigeons welfare first if the temp stay like this we should try racing in november was f- warmer then, good friend of mine jumped a cock bird into first national as a training toss prior to the gold cup the pigeon left 5000 trailing and won the national he then won the gold cup 2 weeks later with another bird was that because they were spot on and not raced in duff weather i think so ,but everyone to there own
Wiley Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Middle of may on average the east winds are few and far between. A friend of mine would always start around the middle of may he had a wise head and destroyed all his competitors from this stage
Guest IB Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 If your racepoint is on the east route, and your birds are racing into the central belt, an east wind is the equivalent of a tailwind, and a very fast race usually comes from it, like last weekend. It does get warmer - honest.
