sapper756 Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Fuel strike threat: 'Panic buying' at petrol stationshttp://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/59377000/jpg/_59377377_jex_1364985_de27-1.jpgAerial footage showed long queues for fuel in New Malden, London Queues have formed at petrol stations as demand for fuel shot up after ministers called for people to top up in case of a tanker drivers' strike. Some garages ran dry but retailers said they were coping and normal deliveries would ensure supplies were replenished. Ministers have rejected retailer claims their advice caused "panic buying". Conciliation service Acas says it hopes talks will take place shortly after Monday, making Easter strikes unlikely, correspondents say. Some 90% of UK forecourts are supplied by the Unite union's 2,000 or so members, who are calling for minimum standards of working conditions and pay. Anticipating a strike they describe as "completely wrong", ministers had called for motorists to keep their cars "topped up" but urged people not to queue. On Thursday, Energy Secretary Ed Davey said people "just need to do the sensible thing... get a full tank of petrol, not a half-tank." HAVE YOU PANICKED?
andy Burgess Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 "HAVE I PANICKED" ,well for some-time now i have been considering a new pair of shoes and a spare inner tube for my bicycle (just in case) ......... so far have not given in to the urge .
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 practically every station in our area has ran dry,we have a full tank but if stays like this here training well be hit on the head and they will just need to fly,we are not allowed to fill any cannisters so I have got to syphon half the tank out to fill up the quad and then get back to a station that has any :animatedpigeons:
geordie1234 Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 seemingly this panic buying has given the treasury 32million in tax!
Guest paulrstokes Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 I did see elsewhere that it is a welcome boost for them befor e the end of the financial year
Walter swanston Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Training is obviously important for individual fanciers and we have a transporter going on the road on 1st. April we have got to be sure that our convoyer/driver can buy diesel both in Dumfries and in England near the racepoint to get home so I hope this is sorted out soon.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 just found out the local Morrisons have deliveries that come from tankers that are not in the unite union so they say they will have normal supplies whatever happens they need to tell that to customers as police have been called out several times as the queues shut off the whole village exit road and entry road Training is obviously important for individual fanciers and we have a transporter going on the road on 1st.
