Heres a very strange thing that has happened and I wonder if any one has seen this before. - I have a cracking late bred (August) cock which I rung in the nest a cock (sad bum). Some time later I saw his sire tread it and was disappointed because I automatically assumed it was now a hen.

It since devoloped into a cracking young cock showing all over the loft and fighting the other cocks and very definately a cock bird.

Today I watched him pairing to a hen on the shed and all he kept doing was crouching down waiting to be trod. He was even opening his vent feathers just like a hen. This went on for about 20 mins.with nothing at the end of it.

- Is it possible to have a GAY cock bird like you can have lezzie hens?

I once along time ago had the same problem and thought a red cock I had was a hen, it turned out to be the best breeding cock I ever owned.

Seen mated cocks tread each other, seen mated hens tread each other, seen mated pairs tread each other - so don't think you've a problem.

But I think youngish cocks might have bother with getting the technique right though. Strangest one that I witnessed was one that circled the stooping hen and tread the floor underneath her tail; then saw him attempt the same thing with another hen sat in the box below his - while he was still in his own box, tread the floor again.
