Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Scotland has been blessed with many fantastic fliers at the distance over the years,it'd be impossible to list them all. The one who stands out for me,being someone who has scored consisitently at the highest level for half a century,is John Ellis of Wellbank.
OLDYELLOW Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 many top flyers easy to find them look at the results
dal2 Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Cmon the sooth!!!!!! J Hodgson, RV Graham, D Norden, Crombie and Meechan,Chris Little, Stevie Ferguson, RSR Rome to name but a few! Always there or there abouts. Agree with all that have been mentioned, such a difficult question cos of some superb individual performances all over Scotland racing into some stinkin areas?
john cumming Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 many top flyers easy to find them look at the results i agree whole heartedly, to many to mention, like you say just check the results over the years john
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 May be wrong as I checked it fairly quickly I think there is only ONE fancier who has taken an open position in the SNFC Gold Cup race for the last 5 years consecutively. Without looking who do you think it is??
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 crombie and mechan without looking Good effort but try again
OLDYELLOW Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 if i guessed again id be looking :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Richard Combe Think he stays in the same street as John Bosworth. I'll look over it later to make sure its right but I think hes the only one
dal2 Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Richard Combe Think he stays in the same street as John Bosworth. I'll look over it later to make sure its right but I think hes the only one Hmm excellent fliers
OLDYELLOW Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 S Fergusson or E Warwick Still think J king has put up some cracking performances up very consistent loft if you ask me
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Hmm excellent fliers Just had a wee look and he has made the open result the last 5 times from the SNFCs furthest race as well.Had to go back to 2006 when he was 2nd open as there wasn't a Tours race in 2007. S Fergusson or E Warwick Still think J king has put up some cracking performances up very consistent loft if you ask me yeh along with Derek Norden they all featured in at least three of the last five
Jumbo Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 What about the real distance fliers from the north section D Pirie and J Donaldson Also Charlie Cameron Arbroath
OLDYELLOW Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 What about the real distance fliers from the north section D Pirie and J Donaldson Also Charlie Cameron ArbroathLike I say there's many good flyers up there , post like who's the best ectra are unfair and only highlight opinions of to whom one person considers to be a good flyers but anyone with any sense will know position is everything and the north and west flyers have it heavily against them and still hold there own
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 What about the real distance fliers from the north section D Pirie and J Donaldson Also Charlie Cameron Arbroath Some topping fanciers from the North like everywhere else-Ritchie & Whyte,Mr "5 o'clock rock" Walter Masson,Wilson Noble etc. A lot of other top fliers up there that have had great results last season that will keep the North on the map for years to come. A fancier I have always been curious about it Davy Rose, not just for his results. My dad bought a pigeon of his at Mussleburgh. He came up to my dad after the auction and gave him his contact details. He told him to get in touch and he'd give him something down to go with the hen.He died shortly after the show I think. The hen went on to be one of the best pigeons my dad has ever had as a racer and breeder.
AR Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Richard Combe Think he stays in the same street as John Bosworth. I'll look over it later to make sure its right but I think hes the only one You're right there lewis he lives right next door,I bet that's fun on race day
demolition man Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Like I say there's many good flyers up there , post like who's the best ectra are unfair and only highlight opinions of to whom one person considers to be a good flyers but anyone with any sense will know position is everything and the north and west flyers have it heavily against them and still hold there own ok who's the best in the north & west
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 You're right there lewis he lives right next door,I bet that's fun on race day Elphinstone is a real hotbed when it comes to the nationals Many a good race night there I'd imagine especially if it was you that had the first bird in the village I went to John Bosworth's loft years ago but I was too young at the time to remember an awful lot about it. First loft I had ever been to where he could feed and water the doos without going in the hut.Not sure if it'll still be the same,as I said it was years ago.
