i think it is quite important fanciers read about it

" had the sad news off paul longstaff of appleton longstaff thay he had used "pure highly concentrated garlic oil " that a mate had got from a food factory where he worked .....paul mixed a bucket of corn up and put 3 tablespoons of this concentrated oil on the corn ......he filled the hoppers up in his stock lofts and his spare widowhood hens and cocks lofts .....this corn was left in front of the birds for 2 days with terrible consequences dont know how strong this oil was but after 4 days the partnership has lost 101 birds .....all his stock which cost thousands to put together sons and daughters brothers and sisters to 1st unc winners ....pigeons they had retired from racing with multiple firsts and fed and combine chalk"...>PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USING NON PIGEON PRODUCTS !

Must Admit,Not being a user of garlic I was very concerned the other day when a question cropped up on basics regarding garlic and not two posts were the same regarding strenght to administer ,I personally feel there should be no need to give birds various products when they are a1 and on song all they need is pure water and corn, terrible loss for this partnership loosing these fantastic birds and really feel for them ,but why o why were they being treated ?

many of the top pigeon men use it in the game also a lot of vets swear by it it is a natural product where in this case the product used was not natural and we are still not sure if this was the fault behind the death of birds i myself feel great sympathy for the lads involved as it seems there a is a life times of work gone down the drain :cry-blow: :cry-blow:

While I do feel for the guys and their loss, I just do not understand why anyone wants to give anything concentrated to pigeons? What is wrong with a garlic bulb, cost 30p from the local supermarket?

is there any difference of giving garlic and apple cider vineger?

What do people administer these to their birds for, I've had the birds for many years and never used either, just wondered what the thinking is on these

cider vinegar keeps the gut acidic not a great place for canker ;)

garlic has many ingredients which is good for the blood there is a whole list of what both do but i think these would be the main 2

the difference in usuing items like garlic and cider vinegar is this...

garlic has unknown properties that prevent and help to prevent illnesses/problems...a garlic enviroment in the pigeons body help to eradicate worms as they dont like to live in this enviroment.

garlic has been known to have been used as far back in as the pyramids in egypt.

its known to have properties to help control blood pressure and to purify it.

cider vinegar..is acidic and most ailments dont like the acidic enviroment ..but some salmonella problems can live in this as some salmonella feed/progress in acidic enviroments.

a good helpfull read..

i use both these regularly and have done for years, one thing they do after just a few short weeks is put a gloss look on the birds feathering .
