yeboah Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 Must Admit,Not being a user of garlic I was very concerned the other day when a question cropped up on basics regarding garlic and not two posts were the same regarding strenght to administer ,I personally feel there should be no need to give birds various products when they are a1 and on song all they need is pure water and corn, terrible loss for this partnership loosing these fantastic birds and really feel for them ,but why o why were they being treated ?

geordie1234 Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 used to use garlic but got annoyed with my hands stinking of it when preparing it so just left it
Guest IB Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 While I do feel for the guys and their loss, I just do not understand why anyone wants to give anything concentrated to pigeons? What is wrong with a garlic bulb, cost 30p from the local supermarket?
PATTY BHOY Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 is there any difference of giving garlic and apple cider vineger?
billt Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 is there any difference of giving garlic and apple cider vineger? What do people administer these to their birds for, I've had the birds for many years and never used either, just wondered what the thinking is on these

St Finnan Loft Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 An overdose of garlic as mentioned, table salt, even believe it or not water (which will remove excess salts from the body) can kill a bird to the point that they are poisoned and could potentially die?"Probably - there is an LD-50 for almost everything However a few normal cloves are beneficial. . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LD50
marmite Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 i have for many years had a whole garlic bulb in drinkers 24/7 birds are really healthy and s said y use concentrate when a garlic bulb only costs 30p i do feel for these guys must of been gut wrenching to see atb to u all clive
Guest strapper Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 the difference in usuing items like garlic and cider vinegar is this... garlic has unknown properties that prevent and help to prevent illnesses/problems...a garlic enviroment in the pigeons body help to eradicate worms as they dont like to live in this enviroment.garlic has been known to have been used as far back in as the pyramids in egypt.its known to have properties to help control blood pressure and to purify it. cider vinegar..is acidic and most ailments dont like the acidic enviroment ..but some salmonella problems can live in this as some salmonella feed/progress in acidic enviroments. a good helpfull read.. http://www.apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com/ also this.. http://www.garlic-central.com/garlic-health.html i use both these regularly and have done for years, one thing they do after just a few short weeks is put a gloss look on the birds feathering .
just ask me Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 What do people administer these to their birds for, I've had the birds for many years and never used either, just wondered what the thinking is on these most pigeon vets say its beneficial to the birds and they dont make a penny out of it
