Guest Geo Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 about 2 hours ago i saw a Hobby fly overhead with a crow on its tail giving chase , ma wee doo seen it and shot offskie, don't think ill see him till tomorrow its to dark now and no sign of him , the bird of prey looked like a boomerang with a pointy tail on the wing and the HOBBY is the one it most resembled
andy Burgess Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 when i read the the title a thought it was about "smashin windaes" .hope your bird returns in the morning pal.
Guest Geo Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 thats him in noo he sat on my neighbours window ledge for about an hour and it happened again another bird of prey was overhead this was more like the sparrow hawk , this time the doo just stood high with his head right up watching it for a few mins then a crow tailed it and moved it on , well in to the gutsy crow
andy Burgess Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 when you get it in the hut , i would keep it in for a few days to build its confidence and re-assure it .
billt Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 The Hobby is a summer visitor and only 12ins. long, female 2ins. longer. It's scientific name is Falco Subbuteo, I wonder if there's connection, Hobby-Subbuteo

I think subbuteo means "smaller than a buzzard"
