Guest Tooshy Boy Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 ITS A GREAT THING FOR THE KIDS , IF THE CLOWNS WOULD LEAVE THE LOFTS ALONE.///
Novice Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 I think you are talking about Maybole and sponsored by South Ayrshire council.I believe the project did not run last year.Brian Jamieson is involved and I think his user name is Pigeon chested.I have not seen him online for ages.
pigeonchested Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 Hi Old yellowThe project ran last year as a class project in Invergarven School in Girvan for children with special needs, we entered birds into the RPRA One Loft Race on their behalf and we also ran a class project in conjunction with this. We have ran the project with 4 different schools so far.The first year we ran the project with 4 boys who had been getting into a wee bit of bother. The loft was situated on the grounds of our pigeon club, the boys were responsible for all the loft duties. They behaved well during the season, they appeared on Reporting Scotland and they won a Community Safety Award for diversion and prevention, one of the boys is now a full member of our club. If you send me your e-mail address I can send you some more info. A policeman from Doncaster phoned me for a bit of advice a couple of years ago (P.C. Michael Tune) and he now has a good pigeon project up and running. I think that I will be delivering the project to a village school next year.CheersBryan
OLDYELLOW Posted November 2, 2011 Author Report Posted November 2, 2011 My Brother inlaws mother inlaw is a teacher and her school is using 'geordie racer' for the year 3 children , we had a bit of a conversation , she explained that one of there teaching assistants went into school with a few pigeons and a clock and other props , and she had pretty good knowledge of pigeons , I thought it would be a great opportunity to promote our sport through learning and perhaps getting a few of these schemes together and perhaps schools could link up with each other which would be also good for the kids I'm planning getting a few rollers together for my own purposes , but a few coloured props and stuff and take our hobby to local schools But be nice to go back and give details of other schools projects and stuff , if we all do our bit could be a few more young uns joining our ranks if not then they'd have a bit of fun at school
