alex wight Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 I was talking to a fellow fancier who was talking about all sides of our sport and he touched on this subject. I never said anything at the time but was quite curious. I thought you had to be a member of a fed ect to fly. Are there any of these clubs in Scotland? I know there a few in England. How do they work and what is their purpose? Thanks in advance, alex. Before anyone jumps off the deep end and start assuming i,m up to something, be reassured that its only for my info only.
JohnQuinn Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 IMO specialist clubs are about Like Minded fanciers getting together and organising meaningful competition between themselves WITHOUT FALLING OUT!!! The Lanarkshire Social Circle being one such club
The engineer Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Not sure if it is classed as a specialist club however i fly in a 6 bird club. This allows us new starters to have a dabble. The other club may have some members sending 100+ birds each this makes it really difficult to compete.
andy Burgess Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 when back in Wales i competed in a local 2 - bird specialist club , only 3 races per season but was "good sport" yearlings race was about 250 miles old bird 350 - 400 and youngsters 180 ish . was a good social evening at seasons end too with raffles , prizes , young-bird auction etc.
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 There seems to be good money in the central Scotland 3 bird club May join it one day

Yip can see its appeal John and its more races to go to don't feel we've got a strong enough team yet to cover all these races but may give it a try in the next couple of years
