Winds will be very strong across the region through today and for a time overnight. Gusts in excess of 50mph will become widespread through today and are likely to approach 60mph at times over parts of Glasgow and Perth regions. The strongest winds are likely to be as the band of heavy rain clears southeastwards and also again in the late afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals will exceed 50mm widely over the Glasgow and Perth regions. Lightning strikes are also likely in these areas, particularly during the afternoon and for a time during the evening.
