Was contemplating just putting them on top of the existing wood because it's in good order.

Had the joys of felt roofs forever ripping , tried tin roof they sweat too much so when got my last loft had to be tiles probably best roof i've had :) but the bitumen stuff will do as good a job and ventilate the loft and also the added bonus of adding more light / heat to the loft in early spring sunshine :)

the onduline stuff is great to work with and lasts ages, far better than felt. I've done one of my dad's outhouses in it. the only problem is it really absorbs the heat and transfers it inside the building, so either make sure there is plenty of ventilation in summer, or add it on top of the felt roof that's already there mate.

just my opinion, and I admit I haven't used it on a loft!!
