sapper756 Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 I have listened to quite a few "old/experienced" fanciers talk about giving their birds Live Yoghurt, what kind is the best, and what does it do for the birds? is it given via the drinker or mixed in with the feeding?http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif

OLDYELLOW Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 the point in giving the yoghurt is the live cultures there very similar to the cultures in a healthy gut so lets call these good bacteria , so the best time to feed is whilst still wet !!!!!!
Guest IB Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 When I used live yoghurt in the past, I made up enough grub for one feed for all the birds, then spooned 2 or 3 tablespoons of live yoghurt into the corn, mixed it in, then fed it straight away. It makes a mess of the feeder, so after they'd finished I'd remove it and clean it. I also fed it on 3 consecutive days once per month, I found feeding it any more than that, the droppings would become loose.
