Guest Dorset-lad Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Ive had 2 in the las couple of days one from the midlands and one from sussex both reported. the one from the midlands is going home today he fell lucky because ive family down for the weekend so they are taken it back for him. the one from sussex we have offered to release half way but i think they are a little worried it might get lost again so waiting to hear what to do with that one.
sapper756 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 I have had 8 stray youngsters into my lofts over the past 3 weeks, and everyone is now back with it,s owner.

It is simply courteous to reply.
Guest IB Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 I've had 4 YBs in so far this year, 3 of the fanciers collected no bother, 4th I felt was a bit too far away and it went into the stray basket.
geordie1234 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 I find most people i call dont want them back which is fair enough but it means im left with them so from now on any strays get kicked back out i spend enough time on my doos never mind someone elses I would not force anyone to collect as the cost of the sport is already dear enough
THE FIFER Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 with the SHU I don,t think you report young birds you get them to the stray centre, through your club,

Guest IB Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 with the SHU I don,t think you report young birds you get them to the stray centre, through your club, If they drop on race day or the day after, and don't clear by themselves, I think it is better to contact the fancier and give them a chance to collect - a day or so rest in their own loft and they can maybes make the next race; but if it's Thursday or Friday, chances are they're not race fit and the fancier wouldn't be able to collect them anytime soon (marking / racing) so the stray basket would be the quickest way to get them to their home loft - usually by the Sunday.
kev01293 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 have had 1 ob stray and 2 yb strays in this year, the ob dropped in my loft after a channel race and was flown out so it was reported via the tel no ring and fed/watered for couple of days b4 being released and getting home to devon the same day as released under its own steam, the owner phoned me to say it was home but its not always that straight forward is it? with the 2 yb,s the first owner drove 100 mile round trip to collect it but the 2nd yb was chucked 30 miles away from me on its own but was back at my loft that day,if it had flown another 15 miles in the same direction it would have been back home? the owners getting back to me on that 1 but it may well end up staying with me?
