Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 By Resolution of Council made at the meeting on Friday 25 February 2011, the lugs on the 2011 Combi-Ring may be removed provided that the integrity of the life ring is not compromised.IF YOU REMOVE THE LUGS YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. For example, altered rings may not be accepted by other Unions including Foreign Unions should you decide to race with organisations other than the RPRA. Council have indicated that this is the last year that it will grant this dispensation. Should never have been issued to begin with
Guest IB Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Can't see how that rule can be applied. If this is the last year, and from 2012 there's to be no altered rings , what happens to those previous years' rings that have already been altered?

If this is the last year, and from 2012 there's to be no altered rings , what happens to those previous years' rings that have already been altered? i think the ruling is out of order as race rings should not be tampered with , that's already within there rules i say leave them alone
greenlands Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 I think this ruling was also passed for 2010 rings and as stated some other unions would not accept them for racing or shows.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 DID YOU GET THIS FROM LUGGY TAM. aye :002: :002:

greenlands Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Unikon wont be happy if the RPRA are doing away with the lugged rings. They'll put the price of the others up to compensate for the losses
Pompey Mick Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 I dont think the RPRA are doing away with the rings, just the dispensation to alter them. They offered both types this year, the majority of my Club members opted for the originals, several chip rings have come loose and been lost by members who use the lugged rings.

I still am at a lost why they choose the worse design the ring with the hole on the outside looked to me as a better option think it was the belgs that had them looked like you slipped a peg type chip in apart from been plastic looked to be best design imo

That was exactly the reason we opted for the plastic clips to go on the other leg
Guest spin cycle Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 i think the difference is that in 2010 we had no option but the lugged rings so to pacify the unrest the rpra gave dispensation to remove the lugs.....however this year we had a choice of ring.... so rpra feels there is no longer any excuse for taking lugs off and is phasing the dispensation out
