All i have been hearing is the sickness in young this year and of them dying. I am now having this problem myself i shall give the symptons to see if helps working out what this could be, they looking great then the weight goes completely with blinking of the eyes and yellow foam like in mouth and dying all within 2 or 3 days. they have been treated for canker cocci and crop infection and all parents where done prior 2 breeding for all including paratyphoid. Just wondering is anyone seeing the same or has seen it b4 thanks .... :cry-blow:

new one on me theres a few people on here with more knowledge than me sit tight they will reply touch wood all our ybs this year in nest and after parting are perfect not one bit of trouble for some reason this year they have hit the skys alot earlyer than normal and started the moult on the darkness alot earlyer im putting it down to really good health atb mate hope it works out for you

blinking of eyes is usually lack of water , as for the foaming never seen it or heard of it better to get them checked out by a vet than guessing , as for treating as long as approved by a vet that's fine , but if treating healthy birds for ailments they don't have your going to have birds of a weak constitution , then when ailments do arise you'l find the over use of drugs in the past will give you a double blow because they wont be as effective as the flocks strains of diseases would become resistant , not had one young bird go back , i have also not treated a bird prior to breeding , if there not ailing they don't need treating , there can be a number of factors why your ybs have failed , but the ybs get there immunity from there parents if these are striped of there natural immunity , there's not much chance of producing healthy ybs

I would advise seeking out a vet that would carry out an autopsy on a pigeon that you've lost through this. It could possibly be a combination of things e.g. e-coli x streptococci, one disease infecting then another taking advantage of the weakened state of the pigeon.

Hope you get it sorted.

When birds are dying, I think it is time to call in a good avian vet. You will then know for certain what your problem is, the likely source of infection, and the treatment that will the cure the disease.

how old are the effected birds ???? have you ensured there getting food and water ??? what are you feeding them ???

Hope you get this sorted mate sounds serious!

Personally i would not let them out keep them away from any other birds in the loft and get to a vet ASAP you dont want your season finished before it even starts

IF YOU HAVE BIRDS DYING SEEK MEDICAL ADVISE STRAIGHT AWAY

why wait for answers on here that wont help you or the birds if they are infected that much they are dying.

i could suggest some idea,s but i couldnt tell you what it is unless seeing the birds.

i would advise for you to take fresh dropping samples and the bird along.

foaming at the mouth spells to me that there could be a poisioning case...are they eating around the loft?..outside?

Funny you spotting this Adam, I have exactly the same with my ybs. Flying early and breaking down into moult a wee bit quicker.

Sound advice here. I would also use adenosan on feed to ensure its not a strain of y.b.s kicking in.

nothing like the picture. they def getting food and water and the ranging from bein weaned end of janruary up until end of march. They wernt being let out when started being sick only in2 big avairy on front of the loft. I think it a form of streptococci and e-coli myself and another top fancier looked at them and thats what he is thinking. i believe there is alot of fanciers with the same problem young birds dying this year but not informing the rest of us to b on gaurd...

When did you innoculate yer doos for PMV??

Have noticed a pattern with a lot of the guys who are having bad hatches and poor ybs in the nest. They seem to jag very close to the doos being paired.Think you have to be careful with Nobivac especially-its recommended you wait six weeks til after jagging before thinking about pairing your pigeons.

my advice as before get to the vet as soon as possible as I

take it all your yb are infected or will be.

I had had something similar a lot of years ago and it turned

out to be worms. only difference no foaming at the beak.hope

you get it sorted m8

I can only repeat the advice you have already recieved, get to a good Vet quickly and shut the birds inside the loft until you can work out what is happening. I have seen quite a few cases of poisoning in pigeons and the syptoms you describe are very like the syptoms of poisoning. It is a fact that young pigeons will try almost anything especially if they see one of their mates nibbling at something.

Are your birds left to roam about and do they have access to plants or chemicals? Watch out for things like privat for example, I have seen two cases where the birds died from eating privat. To make a point, you are wasting time while you are playing guessing games on this Forum because nobody can accurately guess what is going wrong without at least seeing the birds. GO TO A VET.

i myself think when you use to much antibiotics the immune weakens in the pigeon i think this loft has streppticcoi in comes in differnt forms y/bs cant fight it of cause they our to young and havent built up any immunty you need to give them a broad spectrum live probiotic from day one to build it up and when this happens theres a bit there to fight it off

where they jagged for paramyxo

is there joints swollen

is the loft clean

i myself would start a course of streppticcoi cure for 14 days and see how they go and if they come round a probiotic for 7 days and they 3 weeks later jag them for paramyxo if they not all ready done

ITS CANDDIADA OR THRUSH IF ITS CACKING LIKE YELLOW CHEESY COATING , IT WILL KIL THEM VERY QUICKLY YOU WILL FIND THERE IS AN UNDERLYING E COLI OR STRPTOCOCCIS INFECTION CAUSING THE CANDDIADA TO FLARE UP ,, YOU HAVNT GIVEN THEM ANY ANTI BIOTICS OF LATE HAVE YOU

Posted

they have been done with gambokoccid and no change also parracoli-cure

I WOULD NEVER GIVE YB THAT OR BAYTRIL AS YOU WILL KNOCK THERE SYSTEM OUT THAT WILL TRIGGER OF CANDDIDA AND THAT IN ITS SELF WILL KILL YOUR YB,S YOU SHOULD GET THEM TESTED BUT I WOULD GET SOME NYSTTIN ON THE CORN AND A GOOD PRO BIOTIC MULTI VIT IN THE WATER RITE AWAY

BAYTRIL OR ANTIS WILL MAKE CANDIDA WORSE
