sapper756 Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I give it once a week, once all the youngsters are weanedhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif
alex young Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 A mate of mine used to break a couple of garlic bulbs up and put the cloves into a small net(like the ones you put washing powder tablets in)he had this in his young bird drinkers daily, only changing them every couple of weeks. It worked well for him,he was premier prizewinner many times. Also some put a small bulb into a bottle of cyder vinegar(breaking into cloves first) and add this to a 4pint drinker at the rate of 20mls twice a week.
Guest Dorset-lad Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I used a 3 litre squash bottle. I put in 2 cloves and let it stand for 4 or 5 days then top the drinkers up with it once a week.
Guest IB Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I prefer to use it fresh, half a bulb, peeled and crushed into my 2 ltr drinker. Crushing instantly sets off a chemical reaction which releases allicin , IMO the main active ingredient. Allicin is very unstable, and is said to break down into many other chemicals within 3/4 hours.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 So do you think making it the night before i plan to use it is enough time?
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 So do you think making it the night before i plan to use it is enough time? Guy I know uses it and he always makes it up the night before adding it to the drinkers-which are changed daily.Think he uses it most days during racing. Don't think there is a right or a wrong way to do it.Have seen guys submerge a crusher into the drinker and crush the garlic into the clean water.
