talking to a old pigeon fancier a few weeks ago he was telling me about training and racing birds and being of a polite nature and respect for my elders i always give them the time of day anyway something interesting came from this conversation regarding hawk strikes whilst training birds he suggested putting all birds of similar colour in basket no more than ten birds and all pieds white flights mealys etc in same basket thus when they are in the air and the hawk is above nothing really stands out like if you had blue check in basket with one gay pied the theory is the hawk would pick out pied because he would stand out anyway i have tried this theory and as far as goes all birds have come home in one piece maybe this way does work? anything is worth a try whats your thoughts ? and have you tried this ?

Anything's worth a try mate.Percy is just beyond a joke now.Everyone I talk to in this area have been hit while training. Can't knock the idea till it's proved wrong but i wouldn't put any pass on it.JMO.

i think that it might stop it selecting certain pigeons but i think if the hawk is hungry and it sees your pigeons its going to take one needles of the colour but this is just my opinion

May have it's merit, certainly could bear merit, but feel one would still be picked out.... Now a little salt and lard on it's head and neck, or Rhubarb juice on it's head when ever out of the loft, or when training ... Now we know that are very detrimental and a proven detterent regards any future attacks.
