JohnQuinn Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 my heed would be birling to here the half of it You don't know how right you are
yeboah Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 John surely someone in the management committee said there was a problem with Reims,Bovingdon and Eastbourne so that's why they came up with other racepoints it would be good to hear what problems were encountered at the above locations before the vote at the agm or why the management committee came up with these new racepoints[/quotRight what john is saying frank regarding things being highlighted at the agm ,just a wee guess in my opinion as others also are thinking ,Bovingdon region that sent most birds complained of very few returns yet most that i spoke to in our region including myself got 100%,Eastbourne what a fiasco heldover because of wind we are not talking youngsters here we were talking experienced doos maybe more wind direction me thinks sorry cant help telling the truth no use lying takes another to correct it,why change the gold cup john duthie proved it could be won in dundee a worthy winner ,Bourges was a disaster for those who sent lot of very good doos went down at that one ,agree with gareth got to give the birds the best chance of making it home which meens cross at the point with least water common sense ,Robbiedoo spot on with his comments as well,it is hard enough these days trying to build a team especially at the distance so why put obstucales in there way ,some will agree some wont at the end of the day we are all entitled to our views,to me i love racing my doos and competing but there are more important things in life
duncandoo Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 it seems to me that we are only worried about racepoints, when we should be worrying about the s.n.f.c,turning into a race convoyer only,it used to be if you won the national your bird was. the best bird in the race, that is now not the case,as a few of our lanarkshire members know to there cost, how has it come to the point that you can be first west section and not even win your club,i dont know but if the national does not adress this then the very fabric off the national is at risk, great birds will be lesser birds, its a shame that money is now top of the agenda,a possible first open might only be twentyth in the race
Delboy Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Im not on committee now Michael but I would say Bovingdon and Eastbourne were changed as they are too near, or in line of flight to Londons main airports. The airports send out signals to divert birds away when they come into radar. I dont know if this is the reasons for the inland changes, but it does make senseto me.As for the Liege proposal, imo it was proposed only because it has proved to be a slightly fairer race. The committee are trying to look after the whole of the country, not just the south and the east.

frank-123 Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Right what john is saying frank regarding things being highlighted at the agm ,just a wee guess in my opinion as others also are thinking ,Bovingdon region that sent most birds complained of very few returns yet most that i spoke to in our region including myself got 100%,Eastbourne what a fiasco heldover because of wind we are not talking youngsters here we were talking experienced doos maybe more wind direction me thinks sorry cant help telling the truth no use lying takes another to correct it,why change the gold cup john duthie proved it could be won in dundee a worthy winner ,Bourges was a disaster for those who sent lot of very good doos went down at that one ,agree with gareth got to give the birds the best chance of making it home which meens cross at the point with least water common sense ,Robbiedoo spot on with his comments as well,it is hard enough these days trying to build a team especially at the distance so why put obstucales in there way ,some will agree some wont at the end of the day we are all entitled to our views,to me i love racing my doos and competing but there are more important things in life i think the correct decision was taken at eastbourne the wind was blowing a gale that day and on advice from locals who were there said there would be a chance the birds being on the coast would have been blown out to sea and the chance the birds would end up in france the bird i got from eastbourne went on to score in clermont we all want to race doos but give them a chance
dal2 Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 so the national has been won quite a few times in the west section from france and they still want to go east for a couple o mile of overfly sad realy why not keep the tradition of french channel racing and make the race points dead south of the central belt of scotland .guys we will send our doos regardless of where the race is from but why change every year and have to pay for new measurements again when the sport is getting expensive enough .i think instead of overfly common sense is needed to keep the tradition of this great club intact JMO Completely agree
Guest bigda Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 have had a look at the map again and if you go straight north to south they line from Inverness coatbridge, kirkcubright, colwynbay, Plymouth and to saint pol de Leon, now that is straight north south line from saintpolde Leon the line of flight direct is 116 mile of sea to Plymouth, then from cowyn bay to kirkcubright, is 107 mile of sea, the race measure for that race to Glasgow is in total496mile carring on to Inverness the distance then becomes 608 mile and as far as covering land how do we know the birds coming up the west coast don't fly colwynbay to kirkcubright a distance of 107 mile of open sea what you think of that robbie north south line
