Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 the chances are you will have a virus, run a virus scan and see if that helps any
Timo Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 You don't need a pop-up blocker, and defragging is definatly not going to solve your problem (read up on defragmentation). You're probably infected by some kind of malware. Check your system with your anti-virus. Also download and install Spybot ( http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spybot-Search-Destroy/1043809773/1 ) and let it scan your computer. If you've done that, try Mozilla Firefox ( www.mozilla.com/firefox/ ) with the adblock plus plugin ( http://adblockplus.org/en/ ) as your default browser.

Roland Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 dear ryesway i am having same problem every 2 mins a pop up telling me i am at risk of virus want to sell me protection can anybody help ??????? Best you don't open and take up the offer. It is very often, if not always a loaded gun. Just had my P.c back when I open one. Strangely I phone the P.c doc and he said 'C- Rpa coming down the shoot. It certainly did. I mean we purchase good renowned Virus / Blockers etc - or have decent Free ones - watching out for our P.c when All of a sudden an intruder pops up and spouts your P.c is Lacking this that or the other and they will sort for you :-/ :-/ :-/ Er down think so. Had a few Microsoft ones too... yes are bogus one, but look exactly the same of course.

ryesway Posted October 17, 2009 Author Report Posted October 17, 2009 ive been useing windows defender plus AVG both free and are good
Timo Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 ive been useing windows defender plus AVG both free and are good I don't know about windows defender, but AVG doesn't clean up malware. Spybot ( http://www.safer-networking.org ) is a great and free tool to cleanup all kinds of malware.
greenlands Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 Hi Timo, when on the above link there are several options to download spybot from, which would be your choice. Lindsay.
Timo Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Doesn't really matter. On the mirrors page ( http://www.safer-networking.org/nl/mirrors/index.html ) you can select either one. It's always the same version, but they mirror it to save the server some load.
