sapper756 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I enjoy the sport, and also enjoy the solitude of working with my birds throughout the year. So my question is, would you welcome a young lad to your loft on a regular basis to learn him the sport, or do you like to be left alone to your birds?
OLDYELLOW Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 if was keen i'd welcome them i do like the solitude and calm tho

billt Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Slightly off topic I don't think I could handle a partnership, showing a youngster the ropes yes but another opinion I'm not sure about that

THE FIFER Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 think its parent of youngsters which really need the know how about pigeon racing, as its them which have the say as far as teenagers go I think,
Guest bakes Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 if a younglad or gal came to me and asked to see my birds and it was ok with the parents not got problem of them coming into my lofts to see and handle birds my neighbours kids always handleing my birds always asking about them or standing looking into my garden when there out exerciseing comeing back from training and so on and always asking if ok to come into my back yard to see them also ive helped new starters out get started same as bought bird for another newstarter he wonted but wont do it on any site face to face if i can see they are willing to get involved with some birds of there own i help them but i wont lye to them i tell them its not like any computer game you can turn on or off when you wont its a living thing that needs to be fed watered exercised trained and kept healthy if they still interested i help them out and try to answer what question they ask as best as i can also would take them up to see flyers that have helped me out let them see the differences from loft to loft different management systems in place different strains of birds and so on so they can get some idears of there own what they would like to put into there loft an so on i will tell them from day one same as anyone other newstarter enjoy your birds dont try to run before you can walk keep it simple enjoy the birds and if you take anythink from them score well done but main thing is try to get a team of birds that will home for you birds that will and wont to graft for them.
Guest IB Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Sad, but in today's climate I'd need to know his or her parent's were OK with it, and knew where the kid was. Other than this, quite happy for any youngster to get interested in my pigeons.
