phoned the local corn merchant up,wanting a couple of bags of wheat.and he said it had gone up to £8-50 25k.think im getting ripped off what price are you paying??

£4-50 a bag go to local farm.

Mine was around £4 for a 25kg bag. That was over a month ago tho, will be buying another this month so hope its kept much the same price.

I am not aware of prices for wheat but just got caught short of Barley .I am just back from my local HARBRO where they charged me £8.75 for a bag of whole barley.

The same last year was £4.75

price of wheat in bulk is the equivalent of around £4/25kg bag... add on a pound for bagging...so £5 off farm is fair. typical retail adds 40-50 %...so £7-50 from supplier. the fact is you are often paying for the food to be moved around...hence the £8 plus

Again, same supplier, I paid under £5 for 25kg wheat, and under £6 for 25kg whole wheat. Hoping its much same when I renew them later this month.
