chris h Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 i would replace the 2" mesh 2 large, stoat or rat would walk stright in at ground leval, but rest looks great, all the best. No rats or stoats in my garden. I have a free range patterdale and a beddy/whippet
bewted Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I was told buy alad whos kept racing pigeons for 40 years that the more ventilation the better. can never have too much ventilation for pigeons !!
frank-123 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 r cormack of winchburgh said to me he used to sweep the snow from his loft so if the snow got in so did the rain think he was not bad at the distance racing
ally mac Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Looks smart Chris. I would maybe just woner about the mesh size thgough. When I built my first loft a few years ago I put on an aviary with chicken wire on it all. It was pointed out to me sparrows and mice would get in and cause all sorts of problems. Your right about the ventilation though, just so long as its not draughty. Some nice looking birds too. All the best Al.
Guest asha Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Never have to much ventelation for pigeons bewted, what rubbish, your having a laugh

doo Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 I would have had it up off the ground on breeze block so the air gets under the floor to dry it out ....any rain hitting the path at the door side will make it's way into the loft .....but otherwise looks a good job by someone that is handy

Taylorsloft Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Looks like it's ready for 6 young birds in 5 weeks

Guest shadow Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 I would put some more vents at floor level at the front to get the air circulating , nicely made though :)
