PATTY BHOY Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Would painting 2 circles on the loft roof, just like eagle owls eyes would this scare Mrs Sparrowhawk.Comments please. :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
blaz Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 yes if you paint it at night so as hawk does not see its just a painting lol
Guest IB Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Think that must be a first on here. Sparks two things in my mind: (1) if the 'eyes' reflected light, then may give illusion of movement and cause second thoughts for an attack; but light does change, so effect may be nulled at certain times; (2) Often wonder what is the purpose the woodpigeon's large white circles either side of its head? When the bird is in flight, do they look like large eyes from above? Other creatures make use of the same effect in nature, so appears to be an effective defence.
PATTY BHOY Posted March 12, 2009 Author Report Posted March 12, 2009 Mate of mine has done this with his loft. His loft is beside a wooded area, not one sight of hawks.,

PIGEON_MAN Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Think you will find it will work well until the hawk gets used to them, its like a lot of the deterrants they seem to work well for a while, know someone who bought one of those big plastic eagle owls, perfect for a while hawk now roosts on top of it.
