THE FIFER Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 I will be getting work done inside the lofts, painting walls and new perches,
Guest youngboy Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 i will be making my loft rood from flat to apex with chimneys forbetter ventilation and clear perpex for more sunlightalso opening a 5/8 section for the old birdsalso making a avairy on wheels so i can attach to any section i wish my stock and ybs loft will be extended to 7/8 ft each
Guest IB Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Looking at a few improvements - inside: Swinging door that doesn't really swing, quite proud I can breath in that far to get through it A sliding door that needs to swing out too - now there's one for the designers amongst you A door that needs to have a 180 degree sweep to lock off one of two different sections from the corridor (are there hinges for that?) Roof:A chimney at one end to give a better pull on air-flow inside. I've a gable end with no ventilators on it, all other walls are ventilated so I think a chimney will give a better air flow. Kill moss. Used Di-Ard on part of the loft roof in Feb / Mar, it killed stuff there and has kept that part of roof moss-free since. Do other part, and maybe house roof too. Clean gutters. Garden:Got rid of grass and now putting in a veg / herb bed for the birds. Keep forgetting to get greens for them from supermarket, and what is on offer there is now pretty limited.
Walter swanston Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 New loft just completed.24 feet with a 22 feet six inch by two and a half foot aviary along the front.Built to a Belgian design completely open at the front and ventilation at the rear so the birds get fresh air all the time but no rain or dampness as the front and rear are protecte d by overhangs. The birds trap into the aviary over permanently installed ETS traps.and then into their sections. All I need now are better pigeons

geordie1234 Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 well ive got a busy winter ahead of me got a 24 x 10 coming also might have another few projects up my sleeve hoping to get into the sport in a big way next year
Guest blythy1 Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 I had sold my 32ft loft on e-bay but it fell through as the planning regulators would not allow it in the guys garden so decided to keep it. Lots of work to do starting on Sunday morning - Take tiles off back off loft and replace with perspex to allow more light into the loft - Take false ceiling out (Plywood) and replace with wooden battons - Repaint the outside - Stain the inside of loft - Replace boxes in 2 sections with standard nestboxes - Have the sparky come and put timed dimmer switches in - Replace all locks onto each section - Put two wooden vents into the side of the roof Should be a fun month :D :D good look. lol
Fair Play Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 When are you going to have the time to do all that

Breeding lol Cant wait for it to all start again.
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Ahh painting. My favourite Got a blue hut,a green hut,a red hut and s*** load of green Cuprinol left from last year.No prizes for guessing the colour the huts will be for next season Only painted the inside of one loft last year but hoping to do them all in the coming weeks with white paint and duramitex mixed. Also need to hang 8 nest boxes in the red hut and thinking about another louvre in the biggest loft. No rest for the wicked
