LET BIRDS OUT 10.10 THIS MORNING.BEST THE BIRDS HAVE BEEN FLYING HALF AN HOUR THEN HAMERED TWO HAWKS RIGHT INTO THEM SEEN ONE BIRD HIT . FED UP THINK OF CALLING IT A DAY ...TOOSHY BOY. STILL 8 . MISSING

Hope you have the juice of Rhubarb leaves handy. Or a thick solution of 300 Meg Aspirins, thick as you like, 4 would be plenty. Will cost one about 5p though, not too dear really i guess. For Hawks never get to like the taste. Mind if one was able to inject 2 Mill of 'Golden Fleece' sheep dip just after a poor bird died as this is also very off putting. For they like the taste of this even less: huh:. Careful though with any scattered feathers, for these actually attracts! Many don't realise that the Percy and B.O.P. are opportunists and scavengers to boot....

We are getting percy/sparrow strikes daily here too... Having to train a lot as cant leave them to fly round loft. I have always kept my birds prisoners as I bought my racers for the shows and not racing. But this year I decided to race and watching your birds get hammered and scared to death for days makes me wonder why I bother!! Might have to revaluate my thoughts on it!!!!

totaly same as what i was haveing brian everytime birds was let up percy was in amongst them so trained them 20 miles morning night instead of exercise around lofts but didnt made 1 iota had birds coming back missing tail feathers flights ripped open to be fair havent seen nowt for a while thought they had moved on but looks like theres another pair thats moved in dont have probs with goshawks sparrowhawks no more they seem to have vanished just the pergrines now there a pain in the *expletive removed* when there around clear skys then before you no it as soon as the birds hit the forestry in distance smash after smash they come from no were small black dots in the sky then the birds try to go above them but the other pergrine trys to keep the birds below them crafty basas

Mine get hit regular as you like, but will i give in, nope, why? because there are ways to overcome the problem, but it takes time, and birds adjust.

The thing i learnt is that losing pigeons within sight is very hard to take. When they are lost from trainers/race etc we never really give it too much thought, but when its at home in full view, it is not nice, this includes BOP and wires. But at the end of the day it is easier to fight an enemy you can see than one you cant! ;)

Always willing to help, just costs the time of typing a PM!

It's hard to let out the yb's, especially if there's sparrohawks roosting to our neighbours tree's just around 300 yrds away from our house. It's even worse on saturday race, we could see another 2 hawks flying around that bigger than sparrowhawks.

One time, they've chased the group of 6 ybs. Out of 6, only 1 yb got managed to come back home after 2 days. Sad to say, R.I.P. as well. :(

STILL WAITING ON SIX . OVERCAST RAINING ALL MORNING HERE IN PETERSBURN AIRDRIE ..

you all have been told for the last few years that if you did,nt take things into your own hands to help with bop problem, that this would happen,

Yep, it is well documented and a realist truth.

I know some fanciers that say 'I've had them move into my area from time to time, but I (Yes I) move them on. Sweet and simple.

But I suppose with all the mod cons and new 'Thingymagigs' around most still believing in the tooth fairy they think that they must be able to cosher up a 'Shiney Knight in White Armour'!

Now if a Percy catches - or any B.O.P. - lands on your roof, loft and rips apart and devours a pigeon, it simple means that it is on YOUR property and away from prying eyes. No need then to run about infront of the 'Twithers' but just watch the twitchings of the B.O.P. as it is put off from attacking and ripping apart your favourites!
