micko and jack Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 CHAIRDE FRIENDS with the help of jack lol we are changing the inside of the loft we have moved the nest-boxes because at floor level it was just to painful for me so should the inside of nest-boxes be painted if so what colour are yours and how does it aide the pigeons if at all thanks mick
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 should the inside of nest-boxes be painted - my wooden ones aren't painted, I have some chipboard areas (walls) that are painted white (so you can see the muck (evil) )
micko and jack Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 should the inside of nest-boxes be painted - my wooden ones aren't painted, I have some chipboard areas (walls) that are painted white (so you can see the muck (evil) ) and there was me when i seen a Lady fancier replied i was thinking the answers going to be PINK lol and i would bet there NO muck in your loft
Guest Davy Fleming Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Wouldn't want to paint them but might be tempted to creosote them on the inside to keep them dark. Sure the birds would be happier and healthier
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I do like my lofts clean Mick Pink might frighten the birds (evil) White - because the paint is always cheap !!
Guest IB Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I'm pleased you've got the boxes a reasonable height from the floor. I painted my first bank of 4, but not the rest (16), and I prefer the bare wood, the paint flakes. Can't tell from your pic, but the only 'difference' between my boxes is that each bank of 4 is alternate right / left / right / left entry. I think it help prevents birds going into wrong box, and you don't have birds sitting directly above giving birds below aggro, or birds sniping round the corner at each other.
gangster Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 i dont bother painting the insides

Guest Owen Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I wash mine out with a viricidal distinfectant and let them dry. The inside of the loft is painted with fence paint.

Guest grizzler Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 used jays fluid for years, i use a garden sprayer to put it on takes less than an hour.treat them after you finish breeding and again about a week before you pair up. never had any problems, good stuff
BLACK W F Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 bryan use cresote it kills everthing plus i also use jeyes fluid as well
dinraiser Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Cresote can damage lungs and irritate eyes. I would not recommend it. It takes ages to dry and will damage plumage.
