I just use house hold bulbs & bulb holders and use a cheap timer its worked perfect for 6 years

I have 2 x 5ft fluorescent lights in 12 x 6 section, also 2 x low energy lights ( on time switch ) and 1 x 7 watt automatic night light.

Everything bought from B & Q.

The thing i don't like about normal dimmers is they only do one thing normally dim down over a fairly short period of time!

The dimmer i've got will dim up and down over a period of upto 30mins which when dimming down allows the birds time to get a last drink and get to roost in plenty of time.

I have strip lights on one timer and one low wattage bulb on another. The wee one goes out a wee while after the main ones. Gives the birds a chance to settle incase they are caught of the nest when the main ones go out.
