Guest joshdonlan Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Are their any joiners on here that could give me ideas how to build something similar to these below? Thanks
stantheman Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 very smart they are josh, where did you see the pictures? look like they would be good for widow hens
Guest grizzler Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 just about the nicest kit boxes ive seen
bewted Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 they would be good to race to if anyone got PFL
Roland Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Well one needs a mate that's a dab hand at building them. Once cut and painted well - wiould soon be messed up of course, then once cut to size etc. soon be put together. But are smart to say the least. If you though aren't any good at building / woodwork, but able to do similar then the end results would be the same as far as the birds are concerned.
p charlton Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 nice handy for people with pigeon lung
ken Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 i think ill try 1 or 2 of them as i have some bits of wood about the place ill post piture when done
yorkie Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 brilliant, have saved photos, will build one of these to fly my young tipplers to this year
gulkie Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 im a joiner there very well made . to start to build these u would need to be skillful with wood, and a workshop ,or get someone to draw up plans with sizes and a list of matials, if ur handy at all, i dont see why it cant be done. realy depending on the wind it would be quite easy to get wet inside they would need to be in a sheltered area ?. :-/ price to get workshop to do this £150 try ur self do they have to be that elaberate.? :)
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 when i get chance i will draw up some plans. I think there needs to be a few alterations made to stop rain etc. Any joiners give me an idea what size timber, screws and ply etc they would use? Thanks
chris h Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 1/2 inch ply and 2 /1 1/2 framing i think the roof would need a bigger overhang.who made the ones in the picture?
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Been PMd asking for other photos, heres another type
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 they are the "American type" kit boxes, but i think theyre a great idea
holmsidelofts Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 maybe fine for the usa as there weather is a lot dryer than ours, i personally wouldnd use them but if you are short on space why not.
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 i think with a bit of perspex with air holes cut out, good roof felt, guttering and good overhang they may work
yorkie Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 what are the approximate overall dimensions?
p charlton Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 i am making one this week a 10foot buy 2 1/2 it will be made from wether boad and 3/2
