rasbull Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 Another 2 made it back just before the thunder and lightening started. That now gives me 32 out of 44 and if someone had offered me that last night I would have bitten their hand off!
holmsidelofts Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Had my birds out for about 5ish this afternoon and they flew well for an hour. I then basketed for a 20 miles training toss. Basketed 44 of them. The weather was fair, with good visibility and not much wind. Waited and waited but nothing was appearing in the sky! Just after 9pm I had 2 come together and about 15 minutes later 1 more! At this time I am missing 41 birds from the 44 I sent! To say I am gutted is the biggest understatement in the world! :( I have never lost more than 5 in a single training toss and to loss the lot in one go is totally heartbreaking! They have had 5 training tosses up to now and not lost a single bird in those.....typical! The season is over just as its about to begin. The weather is awful for tomorrow according to the forecast so the chances of them returning is rather bleak indeed! Hi rich. How did you get on today mate, anymore home? Jas.

sapper756 Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 FIFE I know a Dundee youngster was found badly injured in Kennoway on Monday, and had to be put out it.s misery, but I do not know the ring numberhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif our secretary went to collect it from a non fancier.
wings Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 On a positive side rasbull all the young ones that have made it back to you will have had to think for themselves so hopefully they will have learned a lot from the experiance. Just be carefull now because of the stress they will have been under they may well come down with some thing just keep an eye on them and treat accordingly.
rasbull Posted July 21, 2010 Author Report Posted July 21, 2010 Just had one more when I returned home from work although the cat has had him. 3 big holes in him and feathers everywhere. Managed to escape and just having some food, but looking very sorry for himself. So now had 33 out of the 44.
Tenny Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 Just had one more when I returned home from work although the cat has had him. 3 big holes in him and feathers everywhere. Managed to escape and just having some food, but looking very sorry for himself. So now had 33 out of the 44. You need to get rid of that cat ! PM me if you want any advice on this. Had a problem with 5 of my neighbours about 2 yrs ago. 48HRS later problem gone.
rasbull Posted July 21, 2010 Author Report Posted July 21, 2010 well after the drama of the last few days gave the birds a short 8 miles toss tonight to get their confidence back and pleased to report all 32 returned safe and sound and in good time! (The one the cat had didn't go and will be rested up until fully recovered!)
