pjc Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 can i make loft higher of the ground are you serious that would be nearly impossible believe me that is a high wall behind loft lol, bet you had fun building that one! Nice set up though.
mart_1986 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 get the vents as low as possible i dont like vents in the floor but thats just personal chioce but vents are a must at lower level and top of the roof winter isnt so bad but breedeing and racing its a must if you want them to saty in form nice loft all the best
ron123 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Report Posted November 24, 2009 looking forward now to breeding time have 70 pigeons 36 stock birds 34 racers

andrecrock Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 i would put some vents at floor level aswell Nice looking setup mate, got to agree on the vents on bottom bud.I only yesterday visited a mate of mine that has been having trouble with his y/b loft since he started two year ago.we both agree that the vents at roof height is not good enough, stale air is hanging at bottom of loft.I struggled to breath my self. Best of luck.
hotboy Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 nice set up mate all the best in 2010

kev43 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 gr8 set up ron best ov luck for 2010 season
wilkins Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 when inside loft believe me plenty of ventilation coming in but i will take what you said on board cheers o railings is coming fell down steps already ;D i watched a dvd he other day and the guy said cold air drops and hot air goes up , so he said there was no need for bottom vents, this will stop a sudden temp change having said that my shed has bottom vents
debonair.pidjin Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 The loft is elegant. It would be nice to see the buildings around the loft too. Depending on their height and distance to the loft, the birds might stay on those buildings, and you don't want that.
Shortcut Lofts Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Nice set up Ron, hope you have a great first season 2010. Good luck with the new birds. Eamon
micko and jack Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 hi Ron really nice loft i wish i had the space to build jack a loft that size have a great season next year Go n-eiri an t-adh leat. "Good luck." mick and jack
pigeonscout Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 You do not need vents at the bottom you have it right if the air is comming in at the roof.
greenlands Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 It's nice to see new starters with such a good set up,when I first started up I think I had a 4X4 shed made up of orange boxes. One little bit of advice I would give you is to have something like hawethorn branches or roughly rolled up wire netting on the loft roof to stop pigeons or more so cats landing on it.Good luck. Linddsay.
Guest Owen Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 A nice loft and tidy all around. I could do with you to sort me out. Regarding the comments you are getting. Most people have made the mistakes and have learned from them. And when things like ventilation are mentioned it is because it really is a very important issue. Of course there are other things you should add to your list of things to check. Sunlight, stock levels and dryness are a few to be going on with. The new concern amongst Pigeon Fanciers is humidity. And it is seriously important. So you have plenty to be going on with. One thing that occured to me. If I have a lovely set up like that I would probably injure myself. It would be an odds on bet that I would fall off the staging and end up nursing my wounds and bruises. My wife reckons that I am the clumsiest person she has ever known.
pigeonscout Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 I would have netting running from the top of the wall down to the front of the roof.
Guest gladdo Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 ron looks a pure belter mate ...if i was you mate looking at your garden id put something on roof so birds cant land ...something neat as if they hit top of loft its lost time mate ,,, also something like nails coming up side walls to stop the cats and any little robbers mate...just an idea .... mikey ( dublin, ireland ) keep us all posted on how your doing ...well done ...
