Just been reading another thread on here and it got me thinkinghttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif

Has any PB members ever got a stray bird in, and when they reported it, the owner has suggested you keep it, what I am interested in, is, has anybody got any good stories about a stray bird doing any good for them? if so would you please share it with the members on herehttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

Nearly everyone I have reported have been breed off world beaters, they say apples don’t fall far from the tree, well the trees must have been on top of a mountain because they have always been s—t youngins

had 2 a late breed that got out from the owners avary it was a houben from brian green it breed a young hen that had 6 1sts in one young bird year.also a cock that had been raced i bought of this woman who sold eggs and birds for currys.i seen it re with a load of others and had £150 in my pockit it was in a right mess i reported it and was told it was a g son of arjen. the bloke said i could keep it. weeks later the ped came saying a young bird from that cock as just toped the fed that bird breed me some birds

I have had a few over the years most recent last year a young hen came in she was bred in january and was through the moult rang the owner he told me to leave her flying out as she should come home, she stayed and was transfered first 3 yb races she was 6th club being my first bird each time was always in the first 6 after that then won maidstone by 15 mins 214 mls, not raced this year due to widowhood.

now for the best, THE NEARLY MAN, found living in a barn on the moors lost as a yearling was a 3 year old when i got him reported him along with others that were rung, spoke to owner wife and she said thats THE NEARLY MAN 5x2nds club always beaten by a loft mate, but as thay had finished racing would i keep him, and thay would send on his pedigree and cards including fed & combine on to me,the first year i bred off him i gave the ybs away to breeder buyers and friends that was 2004, he has bred winners every year since and is well known in my area for b/buyer wins, so thay are not all bad.

i had a stray come in a few years back..on a friday night while i was down the club basketing(the mrs got it in) put it in a basket in the shed ..no way could it see outside.

when i came home that night i phoned the owner..i was going to louella,s on the sunday...so decided i would throw it out once i get to the midlands.

well we got to louella,s and i remembered that i hadnt lib the stray youngbird.

so out it goes on louella,s drive.

after getting back home a few hours later and sitting down to tea..a blue yb landed on the loft..yes it was this y/bird . all the way back to south wales.

i phoned the owner to explain it..well he said transfer him over..i did .

as a yearling this bird topped the welsh north road fed by 22yrds for me.

6 wks later next doors cat had it.

i have had several strays that have scored well for me over the years..remember...someones rubbish can be anothers gold ;)

Dutchy - my Dutch stray who we settled and won a race for us. He was looking really promising until the stoat got into the loft. Cried for hours that he was the one that was got!

Got in a stray youngbird a few weeks back.Turns out it belongs to a previous Gold Cup winner,He's told me to transfer it.

Its a cracker!!

massive big thing-if its doesn't ammount to anything in the race basket it will most certainly look good on the Christmas table

This is a stray that came into me as a youngster and I got him returned to his owner, however the first race as a youngster he dropped into me, so the owner asked if I would be interested in transferring him, which I did.

He flew SNFC Eastbourne this year for me, and made it home on the night, so will wait and see what he does next yearhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

He apparently is a Buschaert

Ive reported a good few strays but everyone always comes for them so no story as of yet !!!!! Im just glad to get birds back to there owners .... However there are lots of people out there that would rather kill the bird than let someone try do well with it( This is shocking I think ) . I always ask if i get a bird reported would they like to transfer it over. I had call from one of the best youngbird fliers in Ireland about a youngster he caught in and when he was talking to me he said this youngbird is very well bred and the conversation continued he was telling me he really liked the bird and I asked did he want to transfer it ??? he said yes . ... The bird went on and did very well however what was brilliant I thought he rang me up and kept me updated . He also returned the favour with some youngbirds !!!! I was delighted it did v well for him !!!!!
