What do the members think of todays budget? as a public sector worker I am not impressed with it, no payrise for the next 2 yearshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif VAT upto 20%, and the retirement age upto 66http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/angry.gif

No wonder there are not enough jobs for the youths of today, if they are making us work longerhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/angry.gif

Pay cuts and job losses is hardly an effective way to get the economy going, as people will not have money to spend, which will have a knock on effect and businesses will fallhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif

WELL DONE THE TORRIES AND THEIR PUPPETS THE LIB DEMShttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/angry.gif

Please do not turn this thread into a political slagging match, but feel free to say what you think about the budgethttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

But what about the estimated 880,000 low wage people who will no longer pay tax ? Surely it's good for them ?

What about operational allowance for troops doubled ?

What about personal income tax allowance raised to £7475 ?

What about rise in capital gains tax ?

Possibility for councils to freeze local council tax for a year ?

No duty increase on alcohol & fags ?

State pension to be linked to earnings ?

More help for new small businesses ?

Surely it has its' good points ?

State pension linked to earnings simply means the "haves" will get more than the "have nots" even into retirement. I see it as the governments absolute duty, to provide EQUALLY for every pensioner who has worked their whole life, Those with better incomes have the means to raise money to help themselves in retirement, that is the ADVANTAGE they have over the everyday working man. Let them use their inflated incomes to sustain them, they are all supposed to be clever enough to justify a huge salary, so lets assume they have the brains to handle the money properly. NOT jmo.

Think it sums it up when the Libs had posters stating that the Tories would raise VAT to 20%. Then that they would oppose it full on etc. The Tories replying that it was a myth, nothing could be further from the truth, and rubbished it.

Seems now the Tories are saying it was the first thing that they had to agree to to get the Libs on board etc. etc.

Always has been a Tory thing of high unemployment and low wages...

How can losing jobs be good ;)

It means like Thatcherdid, and Chameleon promised to follow in her foot steps that Fewer are paying into the coffers and more going out. And there isn't any family silver ware left to sale.... Thatcher saw to that!

Like Harmer said, Justified get their jobs at the expence of 10's of thousands.

I take it when you use the term 'haves' you refer to those in the upper echelons in the public sector ?

Whether he does or not is irrelevant... they won't be affected, will make money and as always the 'Have Nots' will pay more for it to be so.

This budget forcast says !.5 £Billion will be clawed back from the 'Haves'! Yes in the first year the 'HAVE Nots' will have to claw back £14billion! Yep it is aceratinly a Budget to be fair to all' All the haves as per normal.

Was speeching to son - in - law. A rank tory, who said Was worried about his job in the buildings 2 year back or so. So went for year touring the world. Fine. Now says, Hate to admit it, but the building work is picking up immensely of late, indeed over the past 6 months or so ... Mean Tories will take the credit... and the money out of our pockets to subsidise those that have plenty. Yep will be agian as Churchill said 'Nevr have so many given so much to so few'!

Don't see how you reach that conclusion when the commission on public sector pensions hasn't even investigated it yet !!

Do you know what sickens me most about civil servants in particular, There are HUNDREDS of them earning more than the Prime minister of this country. How that was ever allowed i'll never understand, and you want to give them even more out the public purse in retirement, away an no make me sick.

my take is.....did the new 'coalition's' chancellor want to deliver a budget like that...did they run up the deficit?. it was generally agreed the deficit would have to be tackled...which begs the question 'why was the deficit run up?' as it was spending money we didn't have. labour poured billions into needless beuracracy pursuing idealist centralist control of everything. plus the billions wasted on consultants. lots of measures for low paid...the pensions link re-introduced ( labour had 13 years to do this but didn't). vat upto 20% which IMO is the fairest tax to raise....the 25% cut in non protected depts is scarry though

Spin the deficit was run up to keep the Banks and hence the country running. Concerns, especially the smaller ones rely on bridging or offsetting loans, as they are a means to an end. - Incidentally Banks greed etc. was another legacy down to Thatcher as she removed the 'Watch Dog' party(s) that could veto bad, excessive, or in affect any risk taking etc. etc. thus allowing for her cronies to make their’ fortunes even bigger - and still are! - Even the Tories agreed and voted as the Labour Party acted. Likewise the most of the world DID follow Browns lead and did the same.... As things are picking up and the economy is in fact growing, the socialist idea of starting to pay back in 2 years or more time makes sense. When the country can afford it better. Like most credit today it seems. - Outside of a mortgage I personally never have, nor hopefully ever will want / ask for credit.

This is only the thin edge of the wedge though. The NHS will once again be desecrated and many more will be suffering sooner than later. Make no mistake about that.

Yes the idea that everyone can, and should be able to afford insurances, and means of having private pensions is just dream fodder taken up via psoudo would be Tories.

Remember when Doctors / Nurses / Dentists training was demolished via Thatcher. How she tried to enforce every one to take out health insurance and Dentist nigh all went private only. How if you didn't have two check ups a year you were struck off the register! How tens of thousands travelled 100's of mile to no avail! Just could see a Dentist even in emergencies! Labour address and have just right this terrible cancer inflicted on te working class grass roots. Etc. etc.
