Delboy Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Does the forum members think the SNFC transporters are good enough for the countries premiere club ?
ALF Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 DID YOU READ MICK MCMURCHIE'S LETTER IN THE BHW LETTERS PAGE ABOUT THEM THIS WEEK????
JohnQuinn Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Does the forum members think the SNFC transporters are good enough for the countries premiere club ?The SNFC don't own any transporters, they borrow/rent from the federations. The convoyer doesn't have any complaints about it, so i would say, yes the transporter is good enough. jmo
Guest bigda Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 i think he is totally correct in what he said a clear roof in the full heat of the day will cook birds but again the silence is deafening from the committee
Delboy Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Aye, I agree with him. I dont think you should be pulling baskets out to get up corridor to water pigeons. Not good enough in the year 2010. Geraldy or similar is a must for the SNFC.
Guest stevie-b Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 they need to move into the 21st century asap
Delboy Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 i think he is totally correct in what he said a clear roof in the full heat of the day will cook birds but again the silence is deafening from the committee THE MEMBERS HAVE TO PUT LETTERS IN AND THEN THE COMMITTEE WILL DEAL WITH THEM.
Guest bigda Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 THE MEMBERS HAVE TO PUT LETTERS IN AND THEN THE COMMITTEE WILL DEAL WITH THEM. a geraldy for the nat will cost £60.000 will take 90 baskets. the income from that will get you another with a few bird sales your first stop is a 7.5 ton self drive 28 birds per basket £3 per bird £7,560 £2,000 for fuel £560 wages £2000,up keep for truckper race £3.000 saved per race 4 races = £12,000 profit

blaz Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 i don,t think transporter are up to scratch.if you look at some from down south they are top class.that said the conveyors do a grate job with what they have got where do the other 2500 birds go at the inland races? on the roof rack
JohnQuinn Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 The convoyer wont complain about the transporter, he built them I'm certain if Kenny thought the thing wasn't fit for purpose, he wouldn't be long in saying so.
Guest bigda Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 where do the other 2500 birds go at the inland races? the national scrap the middle distance races and leave that to the feds, you just go to the 600mile plus races after all you are in the minority where birds are concerned and thats what you all want aint it long distance races
bullcock Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 We have Thousands in the bank we could purchase one and see how it pans out and then another if all goes well, I think we would need 3 x 7.5ton Transporters rather than one large one. But remember we are running at a loss every year and at the rate we are running we will have no money left to survive never mind buy ant Transporters. If we really want to do this we need to stop the loss and create more profit, there are a few ways of doing this,1 Raise funds with Sales (this reaps a good return but not the kind of cash we need.) 2 We spend the cash in the bank. 3 We up the subscriptions substantially ( which we would need to do anyway if we go with option 2) 4 we reduce our running costs Prize money,Trophies,Marking Stations & Transport hire. 5 All of the above toghether. If we really want to have the best Transporters available we must change something.
Delboy Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 I'm certain if Kenny thought the thing wasn't fit for purpose, he wouldn't be long in saying so. ???? Strange one John, Im not asking for the convoyers opinion, im giving mine after 35 years of SNFC racing and 3 times a member of the SNFC committee. The watering system on any transporter is the most important thing and this system used by the SNFC is antiquated and draconian.I stated this at SNFC meetings .Never before has the SNFC settled for 2nd best. Do you ( as a new committee member )think that our means of travel are the very best available ? If the answer is no, then please do something about it.We have money in the bank, use it before it is too late.Another thing, as you would have noticed at this years AGM, a transport committee was meant to be set up to look into ( a grant ) to help obtain a new transporter. I was meant to be on that committee as I have done the homework in getting the paperwork for a grant. I havent yet heard from any official regarding this. Why ? everybody knows the answer to this Get the transportation thing sorted , for us, the SNFC members.
Delboy Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 BULLCOCK, we spend 18 grand a year on secretarial fees etc and we have half the members we used to have. If you consider the secretary works , maybe 20 weeks of the year, that equates to £900 a week. Not a bad wage. Basically, we have around 1000 members paying £25 fees. £18 of that goes to paying the secretarys wages

Rebus Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 The committee of the snfc did a feasabillity study on getting their own up to date transporter a few years ago and put it to the members at the AGM and it was overwhelmingly rejected by the members with the committee being slated in the BHW for even thinking of getting their own transporter,as for taking baskets out of the transporter at racepoints to help the airflow, Tom McEwan was doing this years ago for which he was praised and rightly so, however the men who do the same thing now dont seem to get any thanks. With regard to M.McMurchies letter in the BHW last week he is talking nonesense my birds go in a Geraldy transporter every week and they come home dehidrated also and Geraldy transporters DONT have air conditioning.

novo10 Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 if mick mcmurchie had got a good one out of bovington would he still have complained i dont think so and when our pigeons came from bovington they were not dehydrated and our returns were ok so u cant blame the transporter
Delboy Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Money well spent the man does a first class job. Hes the best secretary weve had since June Paton but toooooo much money for what he does ARE THE TRANSPORTERS THE BEST AVAILABLE????? NOOOO, ENOUGH SAID

Guest stb- Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 WE USED THESE SO CALLED OLD STYLE TRANSPORTER SINCE THE TRAINS STOPPED TAKING THEM , AND THERE WERE A FRACTION OF THE BIRDS LOST IN THEM COMPARED TO NOWADAYS , WITH ALL THE GERALDY STATE OF THE ART TRANSPORTERS , THE GERALDYS ARE LOOSING BIRDS BY THE 1000S JUST THE SAME SO THE PROBLEM IS A LOT MORE THAN TRANSPORTATION
