Horse Wormer

I was talking to a guy the other week and he reccomended a horse wormer to use on the birds, instead of the over the counter pigeon wormers.

 

I think it was Eqvalan horse wormer paste he said, but not too sure? Does anyone use it, and if so what is the dosage?

Not saying it wont work josh, but i know ivermectin works, and keeps them lice free aswell, so i will continue to use that, got it from amaerica last time, dont know where to get it from yet in u.k, but will get some when i need it

this had ivermectin in it so should do the trick, but dont know the dosage?

Personally, would rather use prescribed ivermectin products pre-prepared at correct strength for pigeons. One treatment, for one day in the drinker. Job done.

read my first post josh, it is pure ivermectin i use, dont know the strength off hand, and yes deffo keeps lice off :-)2 drops down there throat every 6 months :-)

is that propper pigeon stuff pete, or Ivo use form cattle etc? Hopefully my birds shouldnt have worms yet, but I have noticed a few damn lice and being using the spray, but doesnt last long.

no mate mine is injectible stuff for sheep, have taken vets advise on it though

yes the pigeon spot on ivo from harkers doesnt seem to work. I have used pour on ivo before, but thats ran out.

Have used it many years ago,prescribed by a vet.Mixed with water( 1 inch of paste from tube)but difficult to mix,not used since.(1 inch per 2pints)

The ivermectin needs to be Ivomec injectable (trade name) or similiar. Its the best one you can use and you just put 2 or 3 drops sttraight down the throat.

 

The Eqvalan is dosed as above (one inch paste) but found it too fiddly.

mix with a little worm watere in a jug and use a hand blender don`t tell the wife lol

used to use nemicide years ago that was a horse wormer, vet used to give you it in a syringe a white liquid

We use moxidectin its brilliant kills all mites and hair worms roundworms etc,also it seems to give the Birds a lift during racing.Since we began using it we never have lice on our birds even though the lice doesnt live on the birds blood the moxi still kills them.
