Was wondering now that we are into summer timehttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif what is the earliest in the morning fanciers let their birds out, and what is the latest in the evening do you let your birds out?

I let my widowhood cocks out every morning at 6.30am

I let my birds out when I come home from work at 4.30pm, the latest I tend to get them in is about 7.30pmhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

we let the cocks out between 6am and 6-30am mate for an hour and then the hens go out for an hour and in the afternoon the cocks go back out at 3-30pm again for an hour and the hens after that for an hour and then the young birds go out at 5 and we put the bob wires back down at between 6-15pm and 6-30pm

Mine in the morning, soon as the sun light came out and after work. On their training, (if weather permited) I get up early in the morning at 04:30am. Straight to Crewe Junction 16 (Approx. 34 miles). The earlist time that I have release my birds was 05:12am. Sometimes they come home first. Then, get ready to work at 07:00am, which is 12miles away from home. :)

Hi John! Thanks a lot for the advice. I think, I need to wait till next year for my midweek race. There's always another year for me. ;)

Mine are out for 7.30ish and back out at 4,45 when i get in from work. When they are flying round the loft after wandering i let my latebreds out with them, don't let the later ones out in the morning so they don't go too far if they get separated from the batch, which often happens as there can be 4/5 fanciers around me with there's out too.

I maybe a should try that a suppose it would bring the younger ones on a bit aswell

This year with the babies i decided with the long work hours to not have the birds out in the mornings as the young birds especially if they went wondering were going to be left to come back into a empty loft with 9 cats next door and minimum 14 within 3 doors either side of my house, so i decided to get them out in the evenings once back from work normally 7.30.

I think this was the biggest single mistake i have made in Pigeon racing and the risk attached to getting them out in the morning far outweighed the potential risk with evenings.

Hi vallance lofts, just imagine how you can manage to keep your birds when there's a lot of cats. I've got the same situation here with my next door cats & thats the reason why i have to train my birds in the very early morning. I'd like to wait for them to get back home first & make sure they're all inside of the shed before i get to work. It's been hard for me, especially when there's a kind of a pair of hawks roosting to one of our neighbours tree just around 300yrds away from our house. :(

"touch wood" I have a DAZER fitted to my loft, and to date, I have to say I believe it works, as I also have many cats housed around me, but rarely see one anywhere near my lofthttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif saying this, I must never become complacent or let my guard down, you never knowhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif

I believe as long as it is "within" the confines of your garden, and will not be a hazzard to children and animals outwith yor garden, I would also let the neighbours know of your intentions, so that no one gets a shockhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif

Hi John, since i got late to get to work. I stop doin' training my birds up to 35 miles. I just let them out before and after work. I told to the guys, if ever they have seen flying birds in the early morning even though that's still dark, it's gonna be mine. :D

I have tried that week club, just once. But, still can't trust next door cats. I decided, back to basic routine. But, still managed to catch up the remaining races to send one of my late bred to Carentan, France. The farthest race of this hen was only Cheltenham 107miles. Still managed to come home this morning at 09:48:15am. I still do remember, that you have told me last year. That i have to give a rest the father of this hen. Because, still a baby to race with the old birds. After taking your advice & Brian Hopper. I gave him a couple of weeks rest. Then, sent it to channel race, Lessay 294miles. Took, 18th place & came home on the same day. I am so proud for my hardwork. :)
