billt Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Is it me, I'm certainly not a PC wizz but I have no problems getting around the new layout
sapper756 Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 I think the new layout is far better, and I have mastered it, however I do understand the frustrations of some who are maybe not so computer literate, The portal has been changed as requested, but I personally would like to see the "current active users" list back next to the current threads, so that everything is on one screen as before, along with the list of "new members",where I use to stick to the Portal , but patience is a virtue, and admin are constantly changing at the request of members. However in saying all that, you will never please everybody, the site had to change, because it could not cope with the numbers of users, and members were complaining of constant faults, so now we have a new server and a new layout, granted the layout is not to everyone's liking, but like myself, feel free to comment, so that the admin are aware of any difficulties, and may be able to assist.http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif This is my personal opinion, I for one will continue to enjoy this great sitehttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
Williedoo Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Think its fine now, when I first saw it I was scratching my head, its just a case of trying everything to see how it works and turning things off if you dont want them ect.
paddymac Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Been using the portal option since the site has been back up and running, certainly no problems here

This is my personal opinion, I for one will continue to enjoy this great site The new portal looking great, it has nothing to do with computer literate or not, the easier you make anything easy to navigate the more you will attract. Long term members get used to things and don't like change and if you change it drastically you lose some if they find other sites easy and attractive. First impressions are lasting impressions to any new members, if you don't get it right it may be their last impression

retired Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 With regards to the former software and also the new software - it soon became apparent after we had bought the new server that the server wasnt the problem with the site - It needed renewing anyway so we pressed on with that. The move from the e-blah software really wasnt an option we had as it was soon apparent 99% of the issue was down to software error (some other forums on the same software are still having these problems with log in, messages etc)
THE FIFER Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 the data on the portal will reduce if you are off site, once logged in they will increase, thats why sometimes when you come on there is only a few,if you are looking for a thread not on the portal go to the forum,
sapper756 Posted May 6, 2010 Author Report Posted May 6, 2010 the data on the portal will reduce if you are off site, once logged in they will increase, thats why sometimes when you come on there is only a few,if you are looking for a thread not on the portal go to the forum, If you click on FORUMS at the top of the portal page, and then go to the bottom fo the page, you will see other options, ie, members on line, ect however if you click on Today's active content this will bring up all the threadshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif ENJOY THIS GREAT SITEhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
