Blue Chequer Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I have 16 pairs of racers and have more recently acquired white Pomeranian Pouters (5 pairs now with a recent introduction of a pair from Germany) I will be reducing the number of rings I get this year for the racers as I find the show people are better prepared to accept being beaten than the racing men and not so greedy. I am what you might call winding down with the racers after having them for over 50 years, but won't get rid of them altogether as they make excellant feeders for the Pouters.
snowy Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 does anybody know of any other pigeon breed/ other than racing, that are good homers,? i know some have a good instinct to get home, but what breeds are they? as when i was a kid, i took my first pigeon which was a white muffed(not a WOE , dont know what strain or breed) on holiday about 80-100 miles away, & it got home the same night?
MsPigeon Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 I raise racing homers, but I only keep racing homers that win races or fly home in clocking time. Carol
Keepsmilingqueen Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 i voted racing pigeons , but i also have what i call tumblers ( i dont sopose they are tumblers at all, but here in the north east anything which is stupid has feathered legs and flips when allowed to fly free is classed as a tumbler :, i have 12 of these which live the life of luxury in an aviery (they were my 1st pigeons i was given them as a eighth b-day prezzie, as dad didn't trust me with the racers lol :)
