Guest NUMA Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 due to the weather predicted for this weekend are people still going to send or are you going to leave them in the loft this week ?
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 due to the weather predicted .I THINK IF WE TOOK NOTICE OF THOSE FEW WORDS WE WOULD NEVER SEND OUR PIGEONS RACING.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 YOU HAVE TO SEND SOME AND HOPE YOU GET A RACE.BECAUSE IF YOU KEEP THEM AT HOME AND THERE IS A RACE HOW WOULD YOU FEEL. [ASK MIKE LYCETT ]
ribble Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 i can understand people keeping them at home if they have targets set for them.but i have mine for racing not looking at.if they cant do 200 mile on iffy days they are no good for me.
Diamond dave Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Yep, gotta go!!! Though I like to look after my yearlings and wont send them if it looks dodgy - plenty of time for them.
THE FIFER Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 IF U HAVE CONFIDENCE IN UR CONTROLLER WHY WORRY.
Chris Little Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 It depends on how desperate you are for a win , if in doubt leave em out , a pigeon's welfare comes first every time for us
ribble Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 if i have doubts about certain pigeons they stop at home,i wouldn't send for the sake of it.
jimmy white Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 i would agree with chris, when in doubt ,leave em out,, especialy after some of the races last week in differant parts of england,,,,but can see fifers point of veiw, the race controllers and convoyers, should be experienced to know, to send or not to send
TheSaddler Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 My sprinters only have 9 races per year! It's not going to become 8! They'll have a rest next week anyway! Youve gotta be in it to win it!
THE FIFER Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 IF U CAN'T TRUST UR CONTROLLER AND CONVOYER WHO CAN U TRUST. THEY SHOULD KNOW IF BIRDS SHOULD GO OR NOT, AND AT THE RACE POINT THEY SHOULD KNOW IOF IT'S OK TO LIB.
Diamond dave Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Rose, I certainly wouldn't consider "throwing my birds away". I've lost good birds on what you would think would be an easy day and even lost them from a 40mile chuck. I am confident that even if they dont race on the day, they will home after several. I think as long as they get a good start for twenty mile the weather should not stop them. I agree with the Fifer - its up to the convoyer
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 IS THERE ANYBODY ON THE FORUM WHO LIVES IN OR NEAR RIPON.
Mike Lycett Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 SAddler We'll be racing mate Worcs Fed tomorrow - no worries
AlanWilkins Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 What you think of the forcast Mike a bit windie
Mike Lycett Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 A lot windy mate! Hopefully might blow itself out today & overnight. Looking at a very erratic day tomorrow. Sunshine, blustery showers - sharp when they're around because of the strength of the Westerly wind We'd entered 5 in the MNFC race, but have now chosen a completely different 5 because of the conditions.
AlanWilkins Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 my pool pigeons have changed just hope we dont get um smashed up in the winds
maverick Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 PENTLAND FED HAVE PUT BASKETING BACK UNTIL TOMORROW . WE WILL SEE WHAT THE WEATHER IS LIKE TO BASKET FOR A RACE ON SUNDAY
THE FIFER Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 FIFE FED MARKING SATURDAY FOR A SUNDAY RACE FROM OTTERBURN AND NOT AS PROGRAMME WITTON CASTLE, BECAUSE OF BAD WEATHER THERE.
GREENGRASS Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Glasgow Federation put back 24 hrs also now marking Saturday with the hope of getting a race on sunday.
Guest Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Not looking good for Central Oregon. still having thunderstorms and they are forecast over the weekend.
Guest Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Sounds like its best if we all think of our birds this weekend and only send if we are sure we will get a race on sunday. Especially us in the UNC who's birds didn't get back till tuesday. Good luck to all who do get a race.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 HYACINTH DO YOU THINK THE SUN WILL BE SHINING AT 8.25 AM FOR YOUR RACE. ?
THE FIFER Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 IT'S ALL THOSE OXO CUBES HYACINTH CAUSING THAT THUNDER,
Guest Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 It could very well be Tammy, but I'm worried about sending, as storms are forecast on and off all weekend. It was glorious about 40 minutes ago now the sky is black and rain is threatening, we could have glorious sunshine withing another hour. They say if you don't like the weather in Central Oregon, hang about for another hour, it changes so quickly.
