Guest Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 thanx redcheqhen i had no idea the nehu had one ;D How do birds end up at the stray centre then ?? i thought when you reported a stray the owner arranged collection from your loft During young bird racing, the normal stray reporting arrangement for Scottish pigeons is suspended. Instead, when you get a Scottish YB in and it don't clear in a day or so, you keep it in and take it down to your club on Friday nights. All the stray birds are then taken to our stray centre at Armadale, West Lothian, Central Scotland, on the Friday, where they are sorted into Federations, and each Federation has special arrangements to collect its own members birds on the Saturday and distribute them from its own mini stray centre. For example North West Federation birds are collected by us from Armadale on Saturday after the race, and brought to Laurieston club house, where they are then sorted into North West clubs. The clubs are informed and collect them here on Sunday. Our cost is £3.50 per bird, against the Scottish carrier's £10, or Amtrack's £25.

REDCHEQHEN Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 thanx redcheqhen i had no idea the nehu had one ;D How do birds end up at the stray centre then ?? i thought when you reported a stray the owner arranged collection from your loft The NEHU are taking only NEHU rung birds at the moment, they can be handed in to the transporter when it comes to collect the birds for the race, it has to be in a box with the ring number clearly marked on the outside of the box. Its then a very similar arrangement to the scottish birds except there isn't a charge as far as I know - never had one back that way :'( , However, I personally wouldn't use the stray centre.
