HOMER49 Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 UNLESS I CANNAE READ THE QUOTE THAT GARETH HAS SENT ME IT WORKS OUT AT 223 ,000 EUROS FOR TWO UNITS AND EVERYTHINGTO GO WITH THEM PLUS A TRAILER TO TAKE 2,000 MORE AND I DON'T KNOW THE CORRECT LENGTH A TRAILER SHOULD BE IN THE UK I THINK IT IS 40 FEET AND HOW WOULD THIS GO WITH AN ADDITIONAL TRAILER HOOKED ON, WOULD THIS TAKE IT OVER A LEGAL LIMIT OR DOES THAT COUNT SEPERATE BUT THE ABOVE PRICE IS FOR SECONDHAND UNITS AND STILL NEED TO ADD ON VAT QUITE A TIDY SUM. I KNOW SOME CLEVER PERSON WILL CONVERT THE EUROS TO POUNDS AND THEN ADD ON THE VAT FOR ME AND THEN PUT UP THE PRICE [i HOPE] Hi Tammy, 223000euros at official bank rate of 148 is 150675.67uk pounds Lans fed IS VAT registered we get VAT back Cheers Homer 49

HOMER 49 i got the grant for our club nearly a year agoand you can apply for another one after a year but it must have nothing to do with what you claimed for the previous year

Guest Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Hi Tammy, The North West Fed raised funds for a replacement transporter by levvying £20 per member over a number of years. I think your members may find £100 a bit steep. Some of ours found £20 steep!!! Remember that the vehicle is an asset and not a liability. It can be hired out to other organisations when Lanarkshire isn't using it. This will help cover your insurance, tax and other overheads. And think positive! It'll cost more in 2008 than it will in 2007. You may find that the cost increases faster than your members levvy does..
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Hi Homer 49 (Alec) Yes your are correct about BMW what should have been put down was MAN, i believe the truck is just what you say with Double Bunks i take this is what is known as a 17 t truck Homer 49.?? It is optional for the members to get a second hand truck and save money. ?? And the price of a brand new Merc is 45,000 Euros + vat or 40,000 Euros + vat for a "MAN" I think i am right in saying that when you are using the truck without the Trailer you need someone with a class 2 or if the trailer is getting used you need a driver with a class 1. With regards to paying for it i would agree with Bruno, Bank loan over 4 to 5 years with a levy of ?20 = (8-9 pints of beer) plus a lot of fund rasing. The birdage in the fed has dropped a little bit in the last couple of years so if we put a limit on the the amount the members can send ( nothing to drastic e.g 50 or 60 limit )??? to 3 old bird races and 3 young bird races this would then save on the cost of the trailer at 31,000 euros. ?? GARETH Also funds might be helped by not having to use a haulage company to take us down the road.
frank-123 Posted September 25, 2006 Author Report Posted September 25, 2006 hi gareth dont you think if we bought our own unit and trailer the unit could be hired out as we only use it say fifty days a year quite a lot of rental there could make some money for the fed
sj irving jnr Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 yes gareth your right about trying to avoid the haulage company we have used one for years as you know to pull out trailer and it costs us a fortune,as well as the company servicing our trailer(which has cost us approx 800 pounds per year). the solway fed is also looking at purchasing a new transporter and trying to cut out the haulage company.but thanks goes out to g grant for letting us use his mini transporter for the last 3 old and 3 yb races.
THE FIFER Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 the lottery grant is now up to £10,000 now and not £5000,

ALF Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I DONT THINK IT WILL BE EASY BUT I DO THINK WE REALLY HAVE TO TRY AND GET A NEW TRANSPORTER AND NEW BASKETS.WHATS THE POINT IN THE FED THROWING AWAY GOOD MONEY EVERY YEAR ON NEW WICKER BASKETS THAT WE PROBABLY WONT BE ABLE TO USE ANYWAY IN A COUPLE OF YEARS TIME???SURELY THIS MONEY WOULD BE BETTER SPENT USING IT TOWARDS ANOTHER TRANSPORTER WHETHER IT BE NEW OR NEARLY NEW???

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Yes regarding the haulage company, over the 16 races in 2005 not including Maidstone and Lille it costs an average of £600 a race to get convoyed which includes the driver and the unit, out this sum also comes approx £200 to £250 on average for each race for the fuel, leaving a sum of £350 to £400 per race going to the convoyer, also worth noting in the cost Lanarkshire had approx 8 races were we had 2 units down the road to the racepoints. I do Realise that there is the maintence of the new Vechicles but i am sure it would not be any were near £9000 to £10,000 that we pay to the convoyer at the moment which includes the fuel costs. Yes it is a possibilitie that one vechicle could be leased out to another org but you are then hoping it would be well looked after. Alf Yes when it comes to the repair of the baskets it has been costing us £2000 for the last few years which i find quite amazing. The above sums are approx from figures on the balance sheet so if i have got the break down of the costs wrong i apologize.
ALF Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I THINK IT IS BEGINNING TO LOOK AS IF ALL WE NEED IS A NEW TRANSPORTER AND ALL OUR WORRIES WILL BE OVER BUT I'M AFRAID WE HAVE A LOT MORE PROBLEMS THAN JUST GETTING A NEW TRANSPORTER TO SORT OUT!!!
