Beanz Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 When I time my widowhood cocks in after they have raced they do not even know they have been clocked as they are that keyed up trying to get to the hen they are cooing in your hand and don't even realise you have picked them up.

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 BRUNO COULD'NT AGREE WITH YOU MORE AS I HAVE SEEN IT BEING USED IN 2 CLUBS NOW AND IT SURE IS A LOT EASIER AND A LOT BETTER IF YOU HAVE A PIGEON THAT IS RACING TO YOU EVERY WEEK AND DONT WANT TO CATCH IT ALL THE TIME ;D ;D PS....NO I DONT USE ETS MYSELF.......YET ;D ;D ;D NO YOU ARE WAITING TILL YOU GET A GRANT BEFORE YOU ALL BUY IT
ALF Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 ONLY WAY I COULD AFFORD TO GET 1 ;D ;D ;D ;D BUT I'M NOT AGAINST OTHER PEOPLE USING IT ;)
collect500 Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Having read all the comments upto now i have to agree with ME and i look forward to next seasons racing secure in the knowledge that Me will be running upto the post office to take my rings to a central clock or is that to traditional keith
Beanz Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Lets cut all the bulls**t, I am not bothered either way if it comes in it does if not then I'm easy with that as well but what does get me fed up is all these fanciers who are in favour using all sorts of excuses to condone it coming in, why not just be honest and say they want to use it because its their choice not any other reason. At the end of the day if all the excuses are correct nobody would use it only the disabled, but as we all know that won't happen. So if you can't be truthful at least be honest.

I don't think you are being fair, Beanz. Many of the posts simply give the fancier's reasons for saying what they say. I also think the Disabled 'excuse' and 'dishonesty' are a wee bit off. ETS has been on the go for a number of years ... I think I'm right in saying it was in use before the 'services' provisions of the disability discrimination act actually became law. Think Peter Bryant was just pointing out that the these provisions were another relevant factor in the ETS debate. And that's what debate is all about ... saying your piece in a reasonable way and providing facts and evidence to back up your opinion.
me Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 "Typical Gutter so-called wit and humour" everyone in the stands is an expert eh mr.brown !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beanz Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Bruno, I think I am being very fair most of the fanciers who do use ETS will not have any disability so at least they should be open about it, As I said in my previous post I'm not bothered either way but those who do want it should be up front about it, I don't doubt that some of the fanciers will be thinking about the disabled but most of them won't it will be just for themselves because unfortunately that is the way this great sport of ours has gone selfish.
dandydoo Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Its not really about being disabled per se ...it is a new type of Clock it is an electronic clock that is being accepted for use .....as in the past was STB, T3 etc. One Guy still uses a Toulet in our Club. Disability regarding ETS is a smoke screen cos I would think its not solely about timing mechanisms. If it was about DDA why is the RPRA and all GB Unions not talking about ETS in terms of the DDA and the sport. For instance ....how many Clubs, marking stations, are accessible for physically disabled people are they ALL wheelchair accessible?? So ETS and the hoo haa is only one small part of the DDA regulations ....dont think any of the Unions have undertaken an audit for compliance with DDA. IT IS ABOUT ADDING A NEW TIMING MECHANISM TO THE LIST OF APPROVED CLOCKS AND YOU CAN CHOSE HAVE IT OR NOT !!!! Nope stall traps not fair loft position not always fair i.e. look at the sections/regions Widowhood fair. Belge and Holland all use ETS ...are they cheating Having a clock or running to the post office was that fair.
Guest Paulo Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 "Having a clock or running to the post office was that fair.'' not really but I bet it was exciting lol Pitched battles outside the post office get on ;D
Guest Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 "Typical Gutter so-called wit and humour" everyone in the stands is an expert eh mr.brown !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No matter where people stand if what they come to see and hear is offensive they have a right to say so, your plagiarism of Billy Connolly is at least 30 years old and for your info [and that of others listening] was used to put down a complaint [from the audience] on a remark Connolly made about 'Highland folk, skyscrapers and post boxes' which a Highlander in the audience found insulting.
superstar Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 And I 'm probably the only person that doesn't like catching the bird to time it in, because thats the last thing it wants. And the last thing I want is to do something it doesn't want done, because it'll remember that the very next race it comes home..... Actually your not the only one there Bruno, I for one couldnt agree more about that, How many birds especially Y.B's have been ruined forever due to having been run round the loft in a bid to gain a few seconds? My young son started racing this year and my advice to him was let them bide when they are showing signs of stress, something he did stick to, which on one occasion cost him a win, but as I told him its better to be last than ruin a good bird and second wasnt such a bad thing but if he had, had ETS then that would not have been the case. Cost will come into it but people will find the money, they always do, I will be no different so let it happen I say and give everyone the chance to make their own minds up one way or the other. It wont be compulsory and at the end of the day you still have to get them home so it will still come down to the skill and abillity of the birds and fancier combined and not a piece of electronic equipment.

Its been all about money from day 1. Only the real money is that earned by the UK's Poultry Industry. £3bn per annum. £50,000 is chicken feed compared to that and just won't cut it. And our commercial business interests won't cut it either. Because what with Belgian Birds, Belgian Feedstuffs, Belgian Loft Products, Belgian Medicines etc. I'd guess there is a net flow of funds out of the UK. The thing keeping us from channel racing is a scientific risk assessment of the likelihood of pigeons RACING THE CHANNEL bringing AI into the UK. The case must be answered by us pigeon people like-for-like, i.e argue with scientific evidence that disproves their risk assessment, not with monetary costs / losses.

Wrongski. Wasn't at the Concert, but heard the recording of it. Really good memory ;D except when it fails me. ;D
Roland Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Dandydoo I don't think that is at all a reality when you say 'Belge and Holland all use ETS ... A. it isn't allowed in it's entirit, some races also have to be manually clocked as well .. and many can't afford it! JMO
Guest Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Guess somebody with influence [or affluence ;D ] must be reading the ETS bits of this thread. BHW November 3rd page 86: Unikon - Champ the Next Generation, prices start from £272 including VAT. That's now on a par with other ETS systems and battery clocks. Sorry now I splurged out £285 on a battery STB in 2003. Money might have been better spent on some electronic pigeons. ;D
