ALF Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 SINCE THE AMTRAK FRANCHISE WAS CHANGED I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF PROBLEMS WITH THEM 1 WAS WHEN THEY SAID THAT I HAD'NT PHONED AND ASKED TO GET THE BIRDS COLLECTED THEY SAID THEY COULD'NT FIND DETAILS OF IT ANYWHERE BUT THE BIRDS WHERE COLLECTED AT 6'45 PM THAT NIGHT WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE TO THE PERSON I WAS GETTING THE BIRDS FROM TO TELL THEM THAT THEY WOULD'NT BE COLLECTING THEM THAT DAY!!! : : : : :
pigeonpete Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 that was short and sweet roland, does that mean your my mate again?? ;D ;D
superstar Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 They'll moan a lot more when Amtrax won't cater for yer ... And one must remember that Amtrax is a franchise, so most are own bosses etc. I quite agree with you Roland, there are people in my area that the local depot will not deal with as they have been nothing but moaners and complainers and about nothing too really. I have a great relationship with my local depot and have never had a single problem this end. One bird in a batch of 6 that were sent out once ended up in preston, some 90 odd miles away from where it was going but they soon got that sorted and had the bird sent to the correct address via a courier, Im sure that didnt come cheap but was delivered the very same day and I was old and wise enough to know mistakes do happen and that shouting and moaning and laying down the law to people will get you nowhere. Like you say Roland if people have a problem with their local depot dont use them and go themselves or perhaps try educating the local depot, as most drivers know nothing about the birds and see it as nothing more than any other parcel. I have sent out hundreds of pigeons with amtrak and just that one minor problem, as you say this sport would have a BIG problem if Amtrak did pull the plug on what I through personal experience think is an excelent service. GOOD ON YOU AMTRAK! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! Oh and NO I do not work for them, Im just a happy customer.

Roland Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Yep Superstar, like Tammy you are spot on. I of course don't work for them either, but know well the time proven adage 'You can always do without Tom, Dick or Harry ... but how much better can you do with them'. Like I say up to a 100 miles I will more than likely take a spin out and see the sites and another's loft. But if not possible I have never had a second thought in dealing with Amtrax... Why should I! In reality the numbers sent and rceived are vast, and a very small number have problems ... Did hear though that it may well be due to uncivil attitudes to a person that has not got any control, and instead of relaying a simple directive, it is often challenging their I.Q. Sure there is concern no doubt when pigeons go astray, but a polite incentive often gets things sorted better and faster, and leaves both parties educated.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 WELL AS I DO NOT DRIVE I HAVE TO DEPEND ON A COMPANY LIKE THIS BRINGING BACK ANY BIRDS FROM RIGHT DOWN SOUTH, AND WE DO HAVE A CARRIER THAT PICKS UP BIRDS ANYWHERE IN SCOTLAND FOR £12-50 UNLESS IT HAS GONE UP

Guest Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 i think its only fair to say that parts of the country have good service and some have bad,but i think its down,as i have said b4 down to the drivers of the van that delivers them and the person they got sorting out the business end ..ie,writing down orders etc. and to be fair , untill u have been having bad servixe for a while i think its unfair for those that do get good service to slate others who have the misfortune of not so good sevice. amtrak have been slated for a few years about bad service, but like any other business there are good parts and bad parts.....is any business perfect?? if im paying over£20 for a service then i expect it to be wot they state in their business boasts..deliver b4 12mid day..ok some traffic about can mess up that time, but 3-4 hrs late or not at all is getting a bit obvious they havent set out to deliver by that time, last but one delivery here they delivered at 5pm gone.and 3pm ish b4 that. we all need this service and most would be knackered without them, but lets get it right amtrak ..should provide a service they state in all their advertisements..otherwise its false advertising. but i will praise or disaprove of them if i feel they have given me a bad service, no good hiding behind the thought of them pulling this service out...they wouldnt be doing it unless they were makin a handsome profit.otherwise...and now they have increased its prices. so lets all have sympathy on those of us who have bad service and congratulate those that have good service...after all isnt that fair?.....paul :) :) :)
Roland Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 You know the reality here is just a few moments of chat. When the driver knocks ask 'has he time for a cuppa... of course he hasn't, but the desture is nice' just mentoned - regardless when you actually boxed them - that you have just 'Boxed them'... and how long does he reckon it will take to get to ' PLACE NAME'.Then the destination is cleared up! Even if Drivers have to be changed. Don't say rubish like 'They ent been fed and watered of late etc. so the sooner the bettercrap etc.' as that implies that if you haven't bothered why the heck should he! The od time I have sent I usually get the same driver, and he really does know the crack. But ten we - others and I -speak to the fellow, he even tells e once the names of other 'Fanciers' he has took! So a bit of politeness may well work wonder... and that is hard for me lol.
