We have hundreds in our town centre too, they fly over our lofts daily going to the local farm.

The town centre is due to get knocked down soon, that might clear them out.

We get the few odd straggs visiting the lofts, usually the ones without rings though.

And yes there is some good looking healthy birds, and probably some of mine from last year.

I know there's a big gap in my loft where one cock is missing. If he were reported where he was last let go I'd fetch him personaly. I have his sons daughters mother and brother. It was only the one cock that scored at Tarbes and Perth. They aint all rubbish that go missing. If he came back he'd go straight back in the pen.

Peter,  BIG gaps are the sickenning part of this game. :( :( We all lose our stars sooner or later, and for some unknown reason, we still carry on. I honestly think that we are all super optimists.   Vic.

SOme of these birds are caught and then sold to the local pet shop for a pound. Then the birds get solf off for three pounds for the pot.

No one monitors and stops this from happening.

All the best prized birds lost due to tiredness/ mobile masts interferance etc.

Not even the owners know what happened to their prized bird?

We need to seek some advice on this issue?

many thnaks

Thanks Vic. I know you don't just loose rubbish. That's all my post was about realy. He was my best bird and I know his blood will tell. Pigeons are meant to race no stock pen here.

Remember well the time when many were up in arms about a guy that did just that. He alo delivered them and demanded full payment( Rightly) from the owners as to the RPRA Rules... was making a little profit from 'Townies' etc. Quite legal if you have the Councils' / Building owners consent. He was charging the building owners  the going rate and the 'Ringed' ones were a bonus!

just cos they stray doesnt mean they are useless, i had one(y/b) with which i topped the welsh north road fed with birdage of over 4000 birds,he was clear of the fed by 22yrds,i raced him for 3 more races b4 next doors cat took a liking to him....they couldnt ever say sorry as they said its natural for a cat to chase birds...i bought a new dog 6wks later a staff cross...they told me that it had hold of the cat 3-4wks later but it got free...so i said politely...its natural for a dog to chase cats!!...paul ;D ;D ;D ;D

the only problem with catching strays is if you report them and they dont want them back then u got a choise keep them kill them or make them pay for them a waste ov time if u ask me
