Marky5 Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Agree with Andy (North wales novice) on this 100%
Guest Hjaltland Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 The enjoyment I get from seeing them coming home from the distance cannot be bought with money
Guest shadow Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 I feel the same nothing like when the bird comes back from 300-700 miles can't abide sprint racing but each to their own
sapper756 Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 AT OUR CLUB AGM ON THURSDAY WE VOTED TO DO AWAY WITH PRIZE MONEY THIS YEAR, TO HELP CLUB FUNDS. I ALSO FLY FOR THE ENJOYMENT NOT THE MONEY
pigeonpete Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 is there any prize money now? ;D ;D i would race no matter what, its the buzz of just watching those birds fold there wings up for me, anything else is a bonus
ACE LOFTS Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 we would race if there was no prize money, at the end of the day its not about the money in our club its not even worth taking
friendsloft Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Still race its taking part that counts nothing beats that butterfly feeling when you see that bird fold its wing back to dive for the shed Friendsloft
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 I WOULD RATHER PAY OUT THAN WIN IT LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE SAID ITS THE BUZZ OF SEEING YOUR BIRD COMING OVER THAT ROOF TOP KNOWING THAT IT JUST FLOW A 100 MILES OR SO!
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 If anybody was in it for the money there would be better of taking their money and going down the bookies and having a gamble, it would save a lot of that persons time and expense between cleaning, training and not forgetting about the wife nagging. ;D
Guest Vic Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Although our wonderful sport abounds with genuine pigeon folk, always beware of the small minority, who think of nothing else but money. FULL STOP, and are unfortunately driving good members away from it. Vic.
Guest WINGS 04 Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 If anybody was in it for the money there would be better of taking their money and going down the bookies and having a gamble, it would save a lot of that persons time and expense between cleaning, training and not forgetting about the wife nagging. ;D i think you are 100% right gareth but it is good to get the all pooler
stevebelbin Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 If it was a choice between having a £1000 in the back pocket or a day bird from our longest channel race - I would pick getting a bird home ;D. I only ever pool, to keep people happy in the club, so I dont get known as being tight LOL
gangster Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 agree totally id rather see them coming home than any amount of money.................
Roland Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 If anybody was in it for the money there would be better of taking their money and going down the bookies and having a gamble, it would save a lot of that persons time and expense between cleaning, training and not forgetting about the wife nagging. ;D Well I doubt if there is any reality in that at all. Of course some make a living... and good luck to them. But the fact remains that several more do actually make money, beside the feather merchants etc.
