mac1 Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 are u being serious..my loft is near feilds and woods never once been bothered by hawks,i put little discs up about the size of a bottom of a can of pop painted diffrent colours white yellow etc with a big black circle in the middle nailed on my loft i see hawks everyday but had no hassle off them hope this helps jv
Guest Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 jv i have not tried this but apparantley you need to get some large concrete blocks this will stop hawks taking your birds
Guest shadow Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Put some old cd's hanging on cord or fishing line round your loft and the hawks will come nowhere near they are distracted by the cd's flashing as they turn or the sun hits them
Guest Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Agree with Shadow, shiny CD hanging from front of loft or usual direction of attack, seems the most successful 24/7 deterrent. Recently, Tammy and others have also reported success playing a CD recording of an eagle owl one hour before the pigeons are exercised. And 'the big eyes trick' circles painted on a kite and flown while the the pigeons are exercising has been reported as successful in protecting a young American member's fancy pigeons.
Guest j v ward Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 been using the cds and a garden ornamental owl i have cds hung all around the loft but they do not work we see hawk every day and it often lands on our fence
friendsloft Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Jv when i replaced the fitted wardrobe doors in my daughters room, one of the old doors was the mirror type, this i placed in the flowerbed facing my loft slightly tilting up, so that the hawks see there own reflection, since i have done this i i have had no problems with hawkes, yet 2 fanciers at the back of me are having real problems with hawkes Friendsloft
Guest Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 HOW DO HAWKS NO THE SOUND OF AN EAGLE OWL WHEN THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE

Roland Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 I believe that Tammy can now send you via E,ail the Zip for the Eagle Owl. Down load it and thenplace it on a CD.
Guest Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 i moved to my new address in nov 10 ive had more hawk strikes in 2mths of letting my birds out than 14 years in Bo,ness i used to watch the hawk going over and club mates told of regular attacks but i only had about 3 strikes in 14 years (used to wonder how i couldnt beat the fanciers from Clackmannan now i know they were on the hawk system bags of training beats the widow/roundabout all the time )
