Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 I would think the SNFC will hire federation transporters. Which ones will depend on the expected birdage, which transporters are available on the dates needed and if they are a good enough standard. I am sure the Lanarkshire would be considered if it was offered. Have they got their new one yet??? NOT YET
ALF Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Saving money is all very well but some guys will risk a relatively inexperienced bird when its going with its own federation and racing to roughly the same area, thats how they get experience. Would'nt be suprised if there was a drop in birdage among non SNFC fed members and after all its supposed to be one of their biggest fed races. I would also bet money there will be a good few birds dragged away to the wrong part of Scotland! MY THOUGHT'S EXACTLY ME THAT'S WHY IF LANARKSHIRE DO GO WITH THE SNFC I WILL NOT BE SENDING ANY YEARLINGS TO THE RACE(I USUALLY SEND MOST OF THEM TO MAIDSTONE) BUT DONT WANT THEM DRAGGED UP THE EAST SIDE OF THE COUNTRY WHICH WILL HAPPEN!! YOU ONLY HAVE TO LOOK AT HOW FAR UP THE EAST SIDE OF THE COUNTRY THE BIRDS GET MOSTS NATIONAL RACES BEFORE WE GET 1 IN THE WEST

I would also bet money there will be a good few birds dragged away to the wrong part of Scotland! I KNOW FLIERS , INCLUDING MYSELF THAT WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT SENDING YEARLINGS UNLESS THEY ARE GOING WITH OUR OWN FED, FOR THE REASON YOU SAY ABOUT THEM BEING DRAGGED AWAY UP THE COAST AND MAIDSTONE IS OUR BIGGEST OPEN RACE , WITH THE HIGHEST PRIZE MONEY, £3,000, AND THIS REALLY IS OUR YEARLING RACE TO GET THEM DOWN TO THE COAST, YES IF WE GO WITH ANOTHER FED I KNOW OUR BIRDAGE WILL DROP IN THIS RACE
me Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 No one would blame you Alf and Tammy and the east coast tram lines effect will be in evidence especially from Maidstone receipe for losing promising young birds as far as I can see if you are in the western/central parts of the country
frank-123 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 not many yearlings have made it to maidstone in our club in the last two season's come to think on it not many birds have made it to maidstone so maybe we will just plod on with just a couple of thousands birds going to the fed open again this year yearlings getting dragged all over to the wrong side of the country well if there are dragged east dont we race from there if there dragged to the west dont we stay there?????? :K)
jimmy white Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 lanarkshire is about the biggest fed in scot , allmost direct north of annan , with the drag of birds, a touch of east in the wind, i could easily see the winner there,,

YOU ONLY HAVE TO LOOK AT HOW FAR UP THE EAST SIDE OF THE COUNTRY THE BIRDS GET MOSTS NATIONAL RACES BEFORE WE GET 1 IN THE WEST last year the newbury national race there was 25 birds timed in the west from the first 60 birds maybe the west wind has more to do with the east doing so well in the national
me Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 "a touch of east in the wind, i could easily see the winner there,, " so could I Jimmy but its not the winner I was worried about. "yearlings getting dragged all over to the wrong side of the country well if there are dragged east dont we race from there if there dragged to the west dont we stay there?????? " Do Lanarkshire have many races from Fife and Tayside then Bart?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAIDSTONE IS BASICALLY A YEARLING RACE , I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYBODY COMPLAIN ABOUT MAIDSTONE UNTIL THIS YEAR WHEN THE SNFC DECIDED THEY WOULD BE GOING THERE

Guest Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 he can change his mind though bart cant he
me Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 "I THINK RETURNS WISE THIS HAD TO BE LANARKSHIRES BIGGEST DISASTER" this has to be a wind up Bart Did all the birds get back from Scotch Corner then Bart? Everyone has to make their own minds up but if you give a yearling "a good kicking " too early you might just ruin a good old bird before it gets a chance to mature. Whatever you decide lads I wish you the best of luckor rather I wish your birds the best of luck. My own opinion for what its worth is some pigeons are just plain unlucky when it comes to who owns them!

frank-123 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 dont know how many iam sending i have 21 yearlings after moving my loft location last year i have no other birds to race bar 12 late breds do you know how many your sending to a race in june because i dont but if i have the birds left to go to maidstone if any to go i sure will duplicate into the national if the fed members allow it and i will have to rejoin the snfc first
jimmy white Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 i can understand completely what your saying, and can agree with most of the posts ,to a certain extent ,,,but is it the race point or is it the birds , i think most feds in scot have had race points right along the south coast , christchirch , wareham , bournmouth, dorchester etc etc etc, in my old club , all blamed the racepoints, never the birds or managements ,,one instance 3 fanciers leading in ob ave reaching last inland race approx 365 miles ,,,,each year the other two never were near it or never timed , these birds were mostly yearlings trained in end of march , cold east winds, went to every training stint, every race, they could get,=,yearlings done,,, my yearlings had 2 tosses sent to the 4th race in brilliant sunshine in may, their 6th race [no tossing] result 11 birds out of 18 in fed prize list, winning a record amount of prize and pool money,=,,fresh birds
frank-123 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 dont mean to upset your good record but when was this record what year?

jimmy white Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 im not blaming anybody , just pointing out what happens when yearlings have had too much to do,,,, their not machines [record would be around 1996 cant remember excactly but have the result somewhere, ,no its not been broken since ;D

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 im not blaming anybody , just pointing out what happens when yearlings have had too much to do,,,, their not machines I DONT RACE MY YEARLINGS A LOT BUT I DO LIKE TO MAKE SURE THEY GET TO THE TWO MAIN YEARLING RACES WHICH ARE LEICESTER [ YEARLING DERBY ] WHICH I HAVE WON THE LAST TWO YEARS, BUT WANT TO WIN IT THIS YEAR TO GET BARTS £50 AND MAIDSTONE WHICH I THINK IS A YEARLING RACE EVEN THOUGH IT IS WELL OVER 300 MILES
ALF Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 YES BUT I THINK THE POINT HERE IS'NT ABOUT FRESH BIRDS IT'S ABOUT BIRDS GETTING DRAGGED UP THE EAST SIDE OF THE COUNTRY WHICH IN MOST NATIONAL RACES DOES HAPPEN!!!
jimmy white Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 agree entirely, with andy, was simply trying to use that post to explain the two extremes,,
ALF Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 IT SEEMS TO ME THE PROBLEM HERE IS THAT THE NATIONAL SEEMS TO WANT LANARKSHIRE MORE THAN LANARKSHIRE WANTS THE NATIONAL!!!
