oh no! not amtrak again!

ordered amtrak today to pick up 12 y/b,s for me ..they arrived as planned at the breeders place...he rang me to say that amtrak had to be sent away as they only took 6 small boxes to put 12 birds in!! >:(

..then later on the breeder phoned me to say he had foned amtrak back and told them to pick the 12 up because he had provided boxes for the birds to go in...amtral wonders why so many bad reports about their service gets aired!..its cos they give on the whole a much needed but!!! bad service... :)

:X :X :X sorry to hear that paul, ive had loads of bad experiences with them last year, but touch wood this year, apart from never fetching boxes, they ve been o.k :)

ask cemetry about them hes pulling his hair out,really having a bad time with amtrak if he didnt live so far i would deliver them myself im feeling sorry for the chap....

i think amtrak has the attitude ...take it or leave it...they aint bothered about picking up pigeons ,the way they see it i think is its a good way to make money but its an hassle to them .surely the new owners would make it a better service....or could it be the drivers they have on the whole(not all) aint upto the job they are employed to do?....paul :)

 

ps.waiting to see wot happens today cos i got 12 birds being delivered and 6 birds going out!

Its not to bad at this end this year, a pigeon fancier is driving for Amtrak, so at least this end the birds are having a fair chance. What happens atthe other end could be another story. But to be fair I have never had any problems with them what so ever.

Not really as I believe Buisness is Buisness, and it works on a % of fair, and they may well only take them a few miles personally. Me well when i hae used them, I have a cheerful manner, and offer a Cuppa if they have time! The a little moan about all the pigeon fanciers moaning about them - a small % really - and we have a laugh at their Sad attitudes, and hey presto, always been great service! I think I visit the 'Bookers ' as well in future as it must be my lucky days lol.

roland i understand u may have had good service from amtrak ,as ive said in my other post it must be certain drivers thats spoiling the good reputation amtrak has in other area,s.

down here in south wales theres complaints from a lot of flyers about the service.i think you should be happy that u have a decent driver up where u r ,...i had a delivery today on time ...but guess wot.the birds i was sending out didnt go because ....AMTRAK didnt have any boxes for the birds to in!!. so now they are coming back tomorrow ..so they promised me ..so u see ,not all ppl have a good service and i say think urselves lucky that ur getting a good service, cos theres a lot not getting wot they  AMTRAK boast they give ..a fast reliable service..or should they say in some parts we do!..lol...paul :)

must say ive had the same on many occasions,, trouble here is they keep changing the driver?,, and , really for the amount you pay,, they treat these boxes like gold , the old driver used to just leave a bundle,,,not now

Well last time for instance I had 6 youngster from Bristol - fancier wasn't around a lot and pinning him down was awkward to say the least. He placed them 9 : 30 in Bristol, here at 1 : 30 so was happy. Had sent two strays back to their owners the week previously, both collected late afternoon, one in Essex was there that night, the other up North was - as promised - next morning. Indeed the Essex chappie was surprised as he thought it would be next morning. Yes and I am thankfull. But Crap hapens and if one thought of how many birds were transported it is bound to have a few cock ups. This is Livestock though and we tend to fret more I guess naturally.

The new Pigeon Express  is up and running but only deals with South East of England deliveries and collections in somewhat of an arc from Portsmouth to just the other side of the Dartford Tunnel, Gravesend, Chatham etc. He is a same day pick-up, delivery service.  He is slightly more expensive than Amtrax but a dedicated courier service of pigeons.

I have used the service and found it to be very friendly and efficient and he gets the job done.

never had a bad service but iam sending two down south monday hope all goes well i sent my birds to the rpra 1 loft no problem got them next morning think your right depends on the drivers just your luck its a pity we are talking about livestock if a parcel goes a stray for a couple of days so what but live stock is diferent

oh my god :o it was the kiss of death, was supposed to have a stray collected today, after 12, and hey presto they never turned up!!!! so now the bird will get tossed up tommorow....... and take its chance!!! there muppets roland no matter what you say!! ;)
