jordanp31 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Hi I am getting my birds in a week and i wondered what is the best system to try if you are starting to race for the first time. I understand widowhood but dont know weather it is best too just start with natural??? how would you start if you were starting racing from scratch... all advice welcome!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Pompey Mick Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I don't know how much of a novice you are with pigeons, but you have to master the arts of feeding, care & control before you think about racing. I have a few basic books which may be of help depending on your level of knowledge.
peterpau Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Start of natural, no ifs or buts about it. Sounds right to me.
Guest Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 ask your club members what systems they fly if it be widoowhood or roundabout then read as much as you can on these two systems and create your own system with either learn as you go nothing worse as a newcomer getting wupped every week by widoowhoods can be soul destroying and we want to kep newcomers in the sport .
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Start of natural, no ifs or buts about it. dead right here , keep it nice and simple till you have gained some experience with the birds
jordanp31 Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 I have had tumblers for 3 years and i have been interested in the sport before i had them so i have read a lot about systems etc. I also think it would be good to start on the natural system first. I am not interested in winning anything, i am just glad that my parents have finaly let me extend my loft and race from it. I have been down to the local club and spoke to a few members. They all were very helpfull and couldn't beleive that a youngster was showing interest in the sport. One member said dont worry about a clock because he would lend me one and he even offered me some yb's. How do you motivate on the natural system???
jimmy white Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Start of natural, no ifs or buts about it. that says it for me ,, you can learn more about the birds themselves , that way ,, then decide later ,, a few years from now,, what sysem you would want to do , what races you would like to best at etc , but patience is the game :)
carl Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 are you are going to be starting with ybs,if so i think natural would be the best to start with, with my ybs i let them do as they wish on the natural.i think you can look at other systems when you have a oldbird team...
BLUESTORM Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Hi If your starting from scratch best fly natural with the idea of flying roundabout next year, If like you say you are starting with young birds dont stress them out to much in their first year. The good thing about roundabout is that you will find that you get some performances from both hens and cocks if they are healthy and motivated.
Roland Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Sounds right to me. Yep... need only to let out and feed in... take up the road etc.
