Guest Paulo Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 You back garden flyers don't know when your born. Sick of the twats down there laately. trying my best to accomodate them with being the new boy up at 4.30 this morning to let the young birds out so they don't interfere with their widowhood cocks. Anyway normally have no problems getting young uns in at all however just fitted some traps in the corridor for them to go through as you know yourselves its a bit of a chew on anyway as I'm doing this the guy next door comes down at 6.15 to let his cocks out. They have been flying totally sh** and he has won nowt all season and they kept trying to drop on his roof. after they went down three times he comes out and starts having a go at me for getting my YB's in. Not being funny but they have shown no consideration for my birds when he gets his widowhood cocks in my yb's don't drop. He also caused me to loose a few yb's off the back of the loft by shouting on at his birds and waving flags about and all sorts. I don't whinge about it cause thats flying on allotments you have to put up with it. Who the hell does he think he is!!! I didn't dare have a go at him otherwise I would have given him such a panning. Cheeky git I'll build an aviary on the fence next to his loft and fill it full of hens if he wants to be a knob two can play at that game!!! What
tubbles Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Lol try to rise above him mate, he is just another one of us sh*t flyers trying to pin the blame on the new boy. Hear it all the time at clubs...... couldn't get mine in cos of ....blah...blah...blah. just ignore the t*t.
Guest Paulo Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 I'll blame him when my Yb's start fielding lol ;D
gangster Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 AS LONG AS YOU DONT BLAME HIM WHEN YOUR WINNING ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
stevebelbin Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 LOL 'the joys of allotments', they are OK if you aren't working and have all-day to let the birds out. I put my lofts up at home because I was sick of getting hassle about letting the birds out. The best thing to do until you can get lofts up in your garden is to let your birds out flag them for an hour and when they come in give them a few peanuts as a treat, so they know flag up = fly, flag down means in for a treat ;D
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 i think you should put the avery up full of hens and let them out with his widowhood cocks sort the *expletive removed* out. good luck
Guest Paulo Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 hey its not my birds landing its his who are the problem. My Yb's are off raking 30 - 40 mins at a time and they are landing ok its just getting them used to going through a trap rather than landing in the open door and just walking in the section. Why did you get hassle then the same reasons as me? Annoyed me a bit cause I never whinge on when their birds cause me problems. Kept shooting me black looks over the fence as well he'd better adjust his attitrude or I'll adjust his face. He's prob not winning cause he has no ventilation going through his loft and his birds aren't on form because of it
stevebelbin Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 I used to let my birds out down the garden at 6am and aim to get them in for 7ish, as I would be getting mine in someone would let theirs out, so mine would generally come in about 7:15 which was fine for me as it kept the birds fit. It was in the afternoon that I got my problems, my racing partner would let the birds out at 4:30 so I could get them in for 5:30, but the bloke in the neighbouring loft wanted his in at 5 so he could go home, and mine kept his up, as they would go off - come back - then go off again. He asked if we could let ours out after he had his in, but I needed to have them out at that time, so I wasnt down there all night., so we said it was impossible. The next thing we knew, a massive flag appeared, which was put hanging over our loft to scare the crap out of our birds. This was about the 3rd week into the season, and it obviously affected my birds that week. Luckily the birds got used to it and infact seemed help us out as our birds won 6 races and scored in every race that season ;D ;D. We just fought fire with fire and put a flag up near his and left it there all the time, so the birds got used to it. At the end of that season I thought it was all a bit childish and decided that it would be best to race behind the house, to prevent any further arguments lol
Guest Paulo Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 lol pigeon men eh. ;D ;D Sod him if he's going to get arsey about it its his problem not mine. I pay as much money for my birds as him he's just pissed because they aren't winning and taking his anger out on me. It just makes me more determined to get my birds as fit as possible and trapping as quickly as possible to beat him. If the silly git had a flag up his birds wouldn't be landing anyway nugget or get some training in he's only trained them three times in the running up to the season. Or he should look at the basics and think well if they won't fly theres something not right with them weather it be health or moviation. Too easy to blame other people and whinge on I guess
Roland Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Well only to be expected I suppose... from Durham eh!!! Say no more lol... just joshing. Personally I honestly believe after I'd ha a quiet word we would be geting on like a 'House on Fire' or he would have probably decided to pack up or move lofts.

How about everytime he goes out someone nips in and bonks he's wife eh! Nah, probably be pleased saying him having too ... Probably pays someone already to and he'd be happy saving his money lol.
Guest Paulo Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Yeah both in the same club. He can suit himself because in the next 7 months I'll have a loft up along my side of the fence and that means the garden will be totally closed off on all sides by hedges lofts and a high fence so it will be a oasis of calm and if I hear him whinging I'll just turn the radio up louder ;D ;D ;D
davebuttle Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Hi Paulo, we have the same problem, I always know how many YBs i have, but next door they have about 50 ish, the ish bit being what ever goes in might be there for a week or so depending on the weather. The 2 ybs i got off you are just starting to flutter round the lofts, Its been iffy at times to get them out. Yesterday had them all out and about, then whoosh 36 out of the 38 were off ??) Got most back by the end off the day, came in singles and small batches, but still have 8 missing, another 2 have just started coming for a look round so hopefully will get them in tonight. When you start doing well with your YBs hopefully it will pi** off your neighbour even more, he may then ask what you are doing, to do so well. Never to old to change in my opinion, got my dad trying different things and hes 74. Dave

I agree too,,,do what you wish when you wish....I fly on an allotment with 26 other lofts theres always loads of birds out, very hard to get them out on there own....
Guest Paulo Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 thanks lads, suppose your always going to get arguments but he just really got up my nose because I never complain when they birds affect mine. Like this morning had YB's out at 5.00 and they were flying really well and then he came down at 5.45 and let his out so my yb's seemed to come back and just fly around the lofts with his. Anybody else have this problem with their yb's??? He must be trying to spite me as his normal time is 6.30 to let them out. I didn't whine through as thats flying on allotments you have to work around the problems. He spoke this morning like so he must just have been in a foul mood because they wanted to drop yesterday. Mad thing is I was getting my YB's in while his were still flying and was shaking the corn tin and the widowhood birds weren't trying to drop as much so it couldn't have been nowt to do with me yesterday. Winning the battle of wills with the new trap as well they all went in through the bob wires only took me 10 minutes this morning instead of the 20 minutes the other day. They don't seem to like the feel of the wires on them. Open door into their compartment was much faster but my dad assures me this will work out faster on a race day to clock in.
Wiley Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 open door is alot faster, with traps pigeons will walk up and down on your landing board just starring in can be frustrating. The only way to get round it is to make them trap superfast by your feeding, once they learn that they got to trap for food they soon realize as soon as you call, i whistle my birds in, that they have got to trap as soon as, if they dont trap in when i want them too, they know that there gunna have to spend a night out or come in without food, the following night, they come in like rockets, if any muck you about next time but come in say like you said 20 minutes after the first few pigeons, they will not recieve any food, only the pigeons that entered when i wanted them to enter, they soon get into a routine in the end, that they know they have to trap. Always make sure youve got the food in the loft also so when they look through the trap they know the foods there. Also good idea to keep them in a routine, if there out at 5.am then in at 6am. fed there full quota and then watered, and then the next morning there yesterdays feed should be out of the system and then at 5am out again. If using a trap always find it essential to learn them thats the only entrance to the loft as squeakers. Hope this helps mate, this is how i trained my ybs to use traps in the past right or wrong, they soon learned all about the traps and that my call represented feeding time
Guest CS Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 I agree too,,,do what you wish when you wish....I fly on an allotment with 26 other lofts theres always loads of birds out, very hard to get them out on there own.... Agree too, do what you wish when you wish... Don't let him get you. Paulo.
